Algorand Community Update
As many of you know, Algorand has new leadership and a renewed focus on building toward a sustainable, revenue-generating network model. We are excited about the unique role Algorand can play in bringing post-quantum security to the broader Web3 and digital asset ecosystem, and we believe the timing has never been better for it.
To align our work with these goals, we are sharing a series of updates on community initiatives and outstanding questions: the future of xGov, the Ecosystem Advisory Council (EAC), the Algorand Technical Council (ATC), and the status of Project King Safety, including our commitment to staking rewards.
The xGov grants program
Over the past year, the xGov program brought together a committed group of community members, and we’re grateful to everyone who took part, whether by submitting proposals, voting, or contributing to discussion. As our focus as a company shifts, we have made the decision to pause the xGov program indefinitely, effective December 6.
We also want to extend a special thanks to the members of the xGov Council for their time, care, and guidance throughout the program.
Because the Algorand Forum has, in recent years, primarily served as the home for xGov-related discussion, we will also be closing the Forum, effective November 6. A read-only archive will be made available. We encourage all Algorand developers, node runners, and ecosystem builders to join the Algorand Discord to stay up to date on the latest technical news and to connect with us directly for any support.
The Ecosystem Advisory Council & Algorand Technical Council
We formed the Ecosystem Advisory Council (EAC) in January to build a more formal bridge between the ecosystem and Algorand leadership. Its role was to gather broad-based feedback from across the community, share it with leadership, and advise on how Algorand proposals would affect the ecosystem.
As our priorities have shifted, we have decided to conclude the EAC as a company-run body, effective November 6. We want to thank the Council members for their participation.
Going forward, we still want to hear feedback and ideas from all parts of the ecosystem. The Algorand Discord is the best place to reach us.
Separately, we are also ending our sponsorship of the Algorand Technical Council (ATC) group. We will continue to host periodic Developer Council meetings for technical discussions, and you can request an invitation to this meeting by asking in Discord.
Staking rewards and Project King Safety
First and most importantly: Algorand has already committed to extending staking rewards through January 2028. This commitment stands, and it reflects our continued focus on rewarding the node runners and stakers who help secure the network.
As part of this shift, we are also indefinitely pausing Project King Safety as a holistic roadmap item. Specifically, the previously discussed ideas of lifting the ALGO supply cap (inflation-based incentives), enabling and capturing MEV, and increasing the minimum transaction fee are no longer being considered at this time.
New usage-based transaction fees, such as those in place for transactions signed using Falcon-1024 post-quantum accounts, may still be introduced or adjusted, and we will share more if and when that work progresses.
Our priority is clear: a sustainable network and continued rewards for those who help secure it.
Looking ahead
Taken together, these changes demonstrate our sharpened focus. Cryptographic security has been central to Algorand from the start, beginning with our original innovation, Pure Proof-of-Stake consensus. Falcon post-quantum signatures have run on Algorand since 2022, followed by quantum-resistant transactions in 2025 and native post-quantum accounts in 2026.
Our next chapter is about bringing those capabilities beyond Algorand to the broader Web3 and digital asset ecosystem, so custodians, wallet providers, issuers, and other networks can add post-quantum security without rebuilding the systems they already use. Building a sustainable network around that work will allow us to keep investing in Algorand, and we’re grateful to the node runners, stakers, and builders whose participation keeps it secure.

🚨 Only 2 chains in CMC's Top 100 have native, protocol-level PQ signing live on mainnet.
Imagine sleeping on Algorand while it's already leading the way in post-quantum resilience!
$ALGO leads by far, with 1.7M+ PQ-signed transactions on-chain! 🔥
Kudos to @NEARProtocol too!

Added @Starknet to the PQ Leaderboard:
Algorand is now officially #1 in post-quantum across the entire industry 🥇
Over 2.7 MILLION post-quantum transactions on mainnet, more than any other blockchain on the planet.
Others are still talking about the quantum threat. We've been shipping since 2022, and nobody has caught us.

I am a competitive bastard, so I built a PQ Printer to get Algorand to #1.
What it does is tracks chains that currently have PQ tx, allows you to deposit Algo so tx go brrr, then if you want you can receive coupons that rank you on a leaderboard.

Google just made one of the hardest parts of building a crypto-breaking quantum computer a lot easier.
We started moving Algorand to post-quantum signatures in 2022. 2.7M+ post-quantum transactions later, no chain has more.
Some magical progress towards "magic state" in quantum!
Our @GoogleQuantumAI team has demonstrated "magic state cultivation" on physical hardware for the first time. The result is a 40x error reduction on our Willow processor vs. previous methods, achieving a state-of-the-art 99.99% logical fidelity.
It's another step towards useful, error-corrected quantum computers to help solve the hardest problems. The result is published in Science today, watch the video below to see how it works

After 2.5 years at @AlgoFoundation as Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer, I've decided to resign. It has been an honor to work with the many talented people at the Foundation and the amazing builders in our ecosystem.
I will still run my Algorand node and Reti pool, and, as a member of the #AlgoFam community, I hope to continue to contribute to Algorand’s success.

🚨 algorand:native x Franklin Templeton — Could Algorand Be Next? 👀🔓
Franklin Templeton Digital Assets teased:
"Unlocking something new tomorrow."
With algorand:native surging and Algorand's post-quantum security capabilities attracting attention, here's an interesting possibility worth exploring.
What if Franklin Templeton is preparing to bring its BENJI ecosystem to Algorand?
Let's look at the facts.
Franklin Templeton has already expanded its tokenized investment infrastructure across multiple major blockchain networks:
🔹 stellar:native (Stellar) — Where BENJI originally launched in 2021, establishing a foundation for regulated on-chain investment funds.
🔹 $MATIC/$POL (Polygon) — Expanding tokenized financial products into Ethereum's scaling ecosystem.
🔹 $AVAX (Avalanche) — Bringing BENJI to another institutional-focused blockchain ecosystem.
🔹 $ETH (Ethereum) — Connecting tokenized investment products with the largest smart contract ecosystem.
🔹 $SOL (Solana) — Expanding into a high-performance blockchain environment.
🔹 $APT (Aptos) — Supporting another modern Layer 1 blockchain.
🔹 Arbitrum, Base and BNB Chain — Further expanding BENJI's multichain reach.
Now ask yourself: Why not Algorand?
Algorand offers several characteristics that could make it attractive for institutional finance:
✅ Native Falcon-based post-quantum signature capabilities
✅ Immediate transaction finality
✅ Low and predictable transaction fees
✅ High-performance Layer 1 infrastructure
✅ A strong focus on security, reliability and real-world financial applications
And here's where things get particularly interesting.
Traditional financial institutions aren't building infrastructure for the next cryptocurrency cycle.
They're building financial systems intended to operate for decades.
Quantum security could eventually become a significant factor when institutions choose which blockchains will safeguard tokenized assets.
Franklin Templeton has already demonstrated that it isn't committed to just one blockchain.
So the question isn't whether BENJI can expand to another network.
It already has. Nine networks are part of the ecosystem.
The real question is whether Algorand could become the next one.
⚠️ Important: There is currently no confirmed announcement connecting Franklin Templeton's teaser to Algorand or BENJI. This is a hypothesis, not confirmed insider information.
But with Algorand's technological capabilities and Franklin Templeton's established multichain strategy, the possibility is certainly worth discussing.
If you were Franklin Templeton, wouldn't you at least evaluate a blockchain developing native post-quantum capabilities?
👀 Let's see what gets unlocked.
