The core of DRiP is supporting independent creative endeavors. Every creator economy tool today has more or less become a charitable payments gateway. But creators need more than payments. They need fans that root for their success from day one, and help spread the word. This is not just my opinion. 90% of Patreon creators say building an audience is their number one priority - not payments. We polled DRiP Creators a few weeks back and only 5% of respondents mentioned making money was their top priority from the platform. DRiP is a gigantic leap forward for creator economy tooling. We give creators tools to distribute assets that are time-scarce, e.g. content for which you had to be there, and assets that are limited based on how supportive their fans are; either through donations, or even social engagement. This lets early adopting fans into the economics of their favorite creators, becoming fans with motivation driven by self-interest rather than simply do-goodness. Those fans behave differently. They are louder, more opinionated, and more likely to spread the word and become evangelists. They place bets with their money and their time on what DRiP Creators will succeed in the future. This allows even tiny creators to find early fans who want to come along for the creative journey. Our next steps at DRiP, starting this Friday, and continuing through the next several months, are all centered around making this value prop more clear for creators, bringing in more diverse types of content, and ensuring users make better choices about which creators to spend resources supporting.
