The Union Cabinet has approved the 135.87-km, 4-lane access controlled Guwahati–Tezpur Corridor of NH-15 in Assam under BOT Toll Mode with Total Capital investment of ₹8,970.20 Crores. The project will reduce travel time between Guwahati and Tezpur from current 3.5 hours to 1.7 hours, doubles average travel speed from 40 kmph to 80 kmph, and would enable safer, faster and more efficient movement of passengers and freight. A key highlight of the project is 4.9-km Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) provisioned in the Tezpur Bypass which has been finalised in coordination with the Indian Air Force.
