Learning about animals, comparing values, and transitive logic with @sage_teacher My mind is being blown. I've seen her have several aha moments in the past 15 mins without any intervention from me.

My six-year-old daughter Sigrid is going to be a fairy queen for Halloween so I used Sage to spin this up. Second grade reading level (she read it out loud to us and nailed it). You can now make these in the parent portal under the creative studio. @sage_teacher

Know the terrain, know how to win.
Daily printable for October 25th The terrain and the force are linked. Nothing exists in a vacuum, but is enabled and strengthened, or weakened, by its context. Know the terrain, know how to win.

Daily printable for October 25th Nature forms striking patterns and neighboring things can differentiate further and further and further when feedback reinforces tiny initial differences. One of Saturn's moon, first spotted 355 years ago, shows this with two faces that look remarkably distinct.

Somewhat ironically the better AI models get the more value accrues towards the tightly tuned deterministic pieces of software, same as it always was

The moats, then, exist where what constitutes tight tuning is non-trivial and often non-obvious. One general piece of this is that it is more difficult to tune something over long time scales than short time scales. So software that has “nothing but immediacy,” like Photoshop—apply the filter, there it is; crop the image, there it is; lasso that thing, there you go—that has no moat. It’s too easy to reconstruct. On the other hand, things that contain progress, memory, projects, compounding impacts and effects—these things are non-trivial to envision and to test and to optimize. These things require long-term coherence. You see it in the demos all over Twitter. A little applet here that’s kind of neat. A beautiful movie there that’s brief but compelling. Linking these things together into a longer arc that has an internal coherence and connectivity to it—this is decidedly an unsolved problem. And in many ways, it’s not a problem to be solved at all. It’s where the art lives. It’s where even things like wisdom show up: what matters and why. We’ve all seen this idea that what matters most now is taste, but that doesn’t quite hit it. Wisdom is closer. You have infinite potential. Okay, then here come the constraints of time, attention and value. What matters and why? What shouldn’t happen? What constraints should be set? How do these things internally relate to one another? Yes, as AI continues to advance, it will ape some of these things more and more. But there is an ever-receding horizon where only something you might call wisdom can live. Taste is too easy to feign. Taste is the wrong word.

If insight outpaces proof, it implies we don't think in proofs. Formalisms encode patterns of necessity that are recognized by other means
Daily printable for October 23rd A comemmoration truly worthy of a color by number. How fitting! One of the fascinating things about formal mathermatics is how I tuition and insight outpace proof -- often by a very wide margin. This suggests our mathematical insights don't primarily rest on "deduction in the mind", but something else. This also suggests there may yet be a role for humans in math even the age of powerful AI proofs. Have a great day!

A saas we would have happily continued to pay for their service tried to nickel and dime us on a SINGLE USER that we have HAD ON THE PLATFORM FOR OVER A YEAR after we ALREADY RENEWED FOR ANOTHER YEAR Are they out of their minds????? We replaced it overnight. Anyone want to guess who? not an obvious one, not even a popular one, they should be kissing every single paid user's behind.

What's happening now in the online security environment is exactly why we must not concentrate the most capable models in the hands of very few. The more that hyper capable models are able to discover and exploit vulnerabilities the more they are needed on the defensive side as well. The ecosystem must be allowed to co-evolve its capabilities. The biggest risk is in massive asymmetry.

Sage is the first and only agent the truly TEACHES.
Watch Sage work with a student beginning to learn about the relationships between points, lines, surfaces and solids. The video shows a complete work cycle, so it is a bit long, but it shows how Sage uses tried and tru principles to build real knowledge and understanding with young learners. Sage is the first and only app/agent the truly TEACHES.

My grandchildren have this and love it
The full library is now available to all users It's great. My kids love it. You can find it inside of the "Free Explore" mode for now. Probably it will graduate to its own fully fledged "environment" as it grows and volves. Let us know if you run into any issues or rough edges, I'm sure there are some yet to work out. Lots of great books. Rich and beautiful language and images. Kids benefit from exposure to high level writing, it's a shame how things have been dumbed down. Time to reverse the trend!

Sage's full library launching soon. Here is an excerpt of Sage reading George MacDonald's Photogen and Nycteris along with a student. In this case the student requested Sage to read it aloud, but he had a few questions for Sage about the language.
