Not a big fan of Obsidian's plugins system. So I liked this comment I still prefer out-of-the-box, seamlessly integrated systems, like Apple's.

Noteey is VMware for visual thinkers. Separate storage from apps. Make your knowledge device-independent. A visual knowledge OS you own completely — local, portable, yours forever. Capture → Organize → Distill → Express. Built for lifelong learners. No cloud. No lock-in.

In 1–2 months, Noteey is getting a powerful Task Management sub-app. Busy professionals manage dozens of tasks every single day, not just knowledge. And with Noteey's seamless linking system, your tasks and knowledge base work as one. Stay tuned. 🔗

[Use case] How Noteey helps me learn a second language better This video shows how I use Noteey, a visual learning tool, to help me better learn second languages. I used to be a crazy language learner, teaching myself Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian, and German. I feel that learning a foreign language is like installing a decoder - it helps us understand a world that was previously just random symbols. I found that Noteey really improves my efficiency when reviewing foreign languages. It can break down large PDF documents visually and import matching video files. You can also export projects locally to share with others. This is definitely a super visual tool for learners! youtube.com/watch?v=ViXZCQUa…

About Noteey team: We have a small but efficient full-time team of 4 people: Myself A product manager A tester A full-stack engineer Extended remote Team: We also work with 4-5 contracted engineers, each responsible for specific modules: One for canvas and mind mapping One for PDF reading and annotation Two for card editor development One for backend development These contractors are trusted engineers with extensive experience in their fields. The pay-per-work model keeps costs manageable. -------------------------- Current Status and Plans: The basic ux framework and core functionality is mostly complete, though many details need improvement By end of 2024: Focus on stabilizing core features, creating tutorials, improving UI, and fixing bugs 2025 plans: Develop web app and mobile apps, expand from Chinese market to global competition -------------------------- Vision: Goal: Create the best "All-in-One" visual knowledge management system Aim to be #1 in niche "offline + visual note-taking app" globally -------------------------- Philosophy: - If we're going to do it, we'll aim to be the best in our niche globally - Team will continue listening to users and maintaining the right direction - Though the path is long, we'll get there by staying focused This approach allows Noteey to running fast while keeping overall costs low - a crucial aspect of lean solopreneurship.

Looking back at the changelog, I realized how much Noteey has changed in the past four months Of course, I will spend more time on marketing later on. However, the process of improving this app itself is a reward to myself!

Noteey's core logic is still a no-code tool. Noteey is a visual knowledge management OS. Each project is like an app. You build this app on a canvas. You can showcase and publish this app using presentation mode and online publishing service.

Noteey's progress 3 months post-June launch: 1) Powerful desktop features - see our website 2) 200+ Desktop Pro Licenses sold without marketing. Users love enhanced offline productivity & data control 3) Slowing down in Sept: 2 weeks for improvements & fixes 4) Q4: Strongest feature set in class. For example, Card & Video Highlights after PDF Highlights 5) Q4: Sketch-like model. Desktop Pro (one-time, native, private, offline) & Standard sub (native + cloud, web publish, sync, web app) 6) Q4: Mobile app (card editing, whiteboard viewing) I believe Noteey will be the First choice for visual learners valuing data autonomy & offline work.

Key differences between Noteey and Heptabase: - Data ownership: Noteey lets you export local copy of your project, including all data and context. Heptabase only exports to markdown, losing a lot of information and context. You can share your local Noteey copy offline without relying on their cloud service. Heptabase can't do this. - Infinite canvas features: Noteey offers more visual elements like shapes, drawing tools, direct video embedding, more embed webpage types, and frames. Heptabase can't do this. - Whiteboard organization: Noteey allows multiple sub-boards within one project. Heptabase can't do this. - Presentation capabilities: Noteey has a presentation mode, similar to Google Slides, for showcasing your canvas in a engaging way Heptabase can't do this.
