Writers' archives are fascinating, and it was amazing to have a rootle through Ronnie Blythe's notebooks and papers. Great news that the @britishlibrary are looking after it. Ronnie Blythe event there in Feb: events.bl.uk/events/the-r... My story here: theguardian.com/books/2026/j…

The algorithms are making it a lot harder to spread the word about these online talks. Although numbers are still reasonable, it would be a great help if folk were able to give the 30 December event a quick share 🙂 Booking available here: eventbrite.co.uk/e/buildings…

Demand the @GOVUK scrap the part of the new Planning and Infrastructure Bill which threatens important wildlife protections!! ✍️Take action here wtru.st/3SkLinU
Steph Spyro@StephSpyro23 May 2025
Rachel Reeves has been accused of “leading an ideological charge” against nature since coming into power. The RSPB and The Wildlife Trusts are among those warning the Government’s Planning and Infrastructure Bill undermines its commitment to protect the natural world.

Hopefully the rain clouds will keep away until I've finished a chapter of Wild Service. Excellent so far. Powerful and thought provoking chapters beautifully written.

The perfect place to give my Ploughman Wood history talk. A room full of oak timbers felled in 1460, a product of a nearby ancient wood, Ploughman perhaps @Nottswildlife

If you subscribe to our free newsletter you will be reading this morning about how @DefraGovUK went to @Gameandwildlife for information in preference to taking advice of @NaturalEngland & Defra staff on gamebird licensing. This is the subject of a Wild Justice legal challenge🧵

Ink and watercolour number 2. We spent the day in Rutland on Saturday and had a short walk around Uppingham. I can guarantee that the next building I draw will not have bow windows!

First attempt at an urban pen and watercolour sketch of Victoria Park near where I work in Sneinton from a photo taken on a lunchtime walk last week. No idea what I'm doing with the watercolours but happy with this first go.

It can't be considered rewinding, the site is too small and too busy, but the management at Skylarks NR by @Nottswildlife and these guys gives a glimpse of a wilder, more sustainable landscape – at West Bridgford, England

Can't believe what I'm hearing. Swift bricks aren't even controversial. They're a cheap, easy way to restore our dwindling bird population. Yet neither Tory Minister, nor Lab opposition, will commit to make them mandatory. What planet are they on?? @Natures_Voice @WriterHannahBT
