Btw, the greed of Airbnbs haven’t just ruined the hospitality business by making everyone do their house chores for them while they pocket the cleaning fees. They’ve also made home rentals unaffordable in cities throughout the world. I was just in Athens, and the local tour guide explained that the younger demographic can no longer afford to live in the same neighborhoods where their families have lived for generations. A gentlemen from Venice said the same thing happened there too, it’s happened everywhere. The big Airbnb [pseudo] industry deserves its pending implosion. Good riddance 👋🏻

Everyone needs to know what actually happened in Serbia. Instead of students just protest against their government, the students organized themselves into a student list and ran in elections against their government—and they have just won. Dear Serbia, congratulations on your victory; you have just opened a new door in protesting. This is history

In California, Washington and Colorado, men are surpassing women in taking paid parental leave. A Pew survey found 84% of working parents said paid family or medical leave would be helpful to them, but only half said it was available to them. npr.org/2026/10/25/nx-s1-597…

You don’t know of what you speak. How should the 1000s of persons waiting for housing while living in the streets “get help” when average wait for housing is 12 years and only 25 shelter beds available daily? Drug treatment only lasts 3 months and doesn’t end in housing? 1/

This paper answers why confident idiots run the world. Cornell University published a psychological paper that explains every terrible boss, every loud influencer, and every broken corporate hierarchy. It’s called “Unskilled and Unaware of It.” they tested participants across logic, grammar, and humor to measure the gap between actual performance and self-perception. And the results are wild. participants scoring in the bottom 12th percentile consistently believed they were operating in the 62nd percentile. they were not lying. they were literally incapable of recognizing their own incompetence. the paper revealed a brutal paradox: the exact skills required to master a domain are the exact same skills required to accurately evaluate your own competence in that domain. if you lack the skill, you inherently lack the cognitive capacity to realize you are failing. this creates a dangerous systemic loop. the incompetent are blessed with absolute, blinding certainty. their brain protects them from their own ignorance, allowing them to speak first, demand authority, and never second-guess their decisions. meanwhile, the actual experts suffer the exact inverse. top performers in the study consistently underestimated their rank. because a task was easy for them, they falsely assumed it was easy for everyone else. they hesitate. they obsess over nuance. they assume they have nothing unique to add. we are biologically wired to confuse confidence with competence. the loudest person in the room gets promoted, gets funded, and gets the microphone, not because they know what they are doing, but because they are physically incapable of seeing what they don't. the only defense mechanism is building systems that stop rewarding absolute certainty and start demanding proof of work.

This was murder and the elected DA (Bill Gore, the same guy who gave the shoot order to shoot a women holding a baby at Ruby Ridge, FYI) is as complicit as the billionaire boyfriend.
On July 11, 2011, inside a historic oceanfront mansion in Coronado, California, a 6 year old boy fell from a second floor landing. His name was Max. His father was a wealthy pharmaceutical executive who owned the mansion. Max had been in the care of his father's girlfriend, 32 year old Rebecca Zahau, when he fell. She was born in Burma, had built a new life in America, and had been living with Max's father in the mansion. Max was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Two days later, early on the morning of July 13, the father's brother, who was staying in the guesthouse, called 911. He said he'd found Rebecca hanging from a second floor balcony, and had cut her down. When deputies arrived, what they found was horrifying. Rebecca was naked. Her ankles were bound. Her wrists were tied behind her back. She had been gagged. In the bedroom, a message had been painted in black on a door. "She saved him can you save her" Max died a few days later. Two months after that, the sheriff announced his conclusion. Max's fall was an accident. Rebecca's death was a suicide. Investigators said she was distraught over Max, and that she could have tied herself up before going over the balcony. They even demonstrated how. Her family was stunned. They said Rebecca would never do that. Her sister said the handwriting on the door didn't look like Rebecca's. The family sued the man who reported finding her. In 2018, a civil jury in San Diego agreed with them. It found him responsible for Rebecca's death and awarded more than $5 million. But the verdict was later wiped out in a settlement. He has always said he's innocent. The sheriff reviewed the case again and stood by the ruling. The medical examiner refused to change it. The state attorney general declined to reopen it. No one has ever faced criminal charges. 15 years later, Rebecca Zahau's death is still officially a suicide. Her family still asks how a woman tied her own hands behind her back.

2. Stop mistaking autonomy panic for "bad attitude" An ADHD brain already struggles with outside demands because it runs on internal, interest-based motivation. When a parent or partner barks an order, the nervous system reads it as a threat before the person even has a chance to consciously choose their reaction.

In November 1941 the richest man in America drove his twenty-three-year-old daughter to a hospital in Washington without telling her mother, had two surgeons drill holes in her skull and cut into the front of her brain while she sang God Bless America to them, and when the singing stopped she had a mental age of two and the family did not speak her name for twenty years. Rosemary Kennedy was the third child and the first girl, and she was slow. A nurse at the birth had held Rose Kennedy's legs together for two hours while they waited for the doctor, and the baby had been starved of air. She learned to read and write, but late, and in a family where the boys were being bred for the presidency and the girls for the right marriage, she was the one who could not keep up, the one who had to be coached and watched and given the simpler part in the photograph. She was also, by every account, the prettiest of them, and when the family went to London in 1938 she was presented at court in a white dress and curtsied to the King without a mistake. Then she was twenty-one, and the trouble started. Moods. Rages. Slipping out of the convent school at night and coming back in the morning and not saying where. The nuns said she might be meeting men. For Joseph Kennedy, who was managing his sons towards the White House and could not have a daughter who might get pregnant or get talked about, that was the end of it. He had read about a new operation. Walter Freeman had promised the newspapers it calmed the agitated, and Joe Kennedy had never in his life been told that a thing he could pay for would not work. Rosemary was given a mild sedative and kept awake. Freeman and his surgeon, James Watts, opened the skull on both sides and Watts pushed a blade into the frontal lobes and swept, while Freeman asked her to recite the Lord's Prayer and sing, and count backwards, so they would know how far to go. They went until she was incoherent. Then they stopped. She came out of it unable to walk or speak. Years of therapy got her a few words and a limp. Joe moved her to a private hospital in New York and then to a convent school in Wisconsin, told the family she was teaching the retarded in the Midwest, and never went to see her. Rose, her mother, was not told what had been done until long after, and did not visit for twenty years. The brothers and sisters, including the one who became President, were told she was away. When Joe had his stroke in 1961 and could no longer manage the story, Eunice went to Wisconsin and found a woman of forty-three who did not know her, and came home and started the Special Olympics. Rosemary lived to eighty-six, in the convent, and died in 2005 with her surviving sisters at the bed. The brother who became President had signed the first federal mental health law in 1963, and the family has said she was the reason. Freeman kept operating for another twenty-six years. His notes on Rosemary have never been released. That is what the expert's confidence looks like when it meets a powerful man with an inconvenient child. The science was published. The father was certain. The daughter sang to the surgeon until she could not. Every institution that has ever decided it knows what is wrong with you and how to tidy it has the same two ingredients in the room, and the person on the table is still the only one who pays.

Airbnb hosts also ruined amazing vacation areas like Big Bear and Tahoe etc. before a couple of brothers and a sister could put their credit/money together and buy a vacation home in Big Bear and the whole family could use it whenever. Now you go to Big Bear and 90% of the cabins are owned by Airbnb hosts. Obviously the people that go there don't care about the locals or the area in general. The prices have skyrocketed and now normal people can no longer pull their money together to get a family cabin. I've never wanted a corporation and their "entrepreneurs" to fail so bad in my life. If I could choose one company and one group of people to bankrupt it would be Airbnb and all the hosts
Staying at Airbnb’s became too stressful. Checking out you’d have to take a video of the place so that the “host” didn’t make something up. I hope the company fails. They let this stuff go on for several years too long.

A deputy put the barrel of his gun into a man's mouth and pulled the trigger. It clicked. So he racked the slide and pulled it again. Michael Jenkins lived. This was JANUARY 2023. Braxton, Mississippi. 24 January 2023. A white neighbour telephoned the police to report that two Black men were at a house with a white woman. The homeowner, Kristi Walley, was a childhood friend of one of them. She was in hospital at the time. Six officers came. Five were Rankin County sheriff's deputies. The sixth was an off-duty officer from another force. They broke the front door down. They had no warrant. They called themselves the Goon Squad. Over roughly ninety minutes they handcuffed Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker, beat them, used tasers on them repeatedly, poured liquids over them, sexually assaulted Parker with an object, and threatened them with rape. They used racial slurs throughout and told the men to go back to Jackson — to their side of the river. Then Hunter Elward put his service weapon in Michael Jenkins's mouth for what the officers later described as a mock execution. The first pull clicked. He racked the slide and pulled again. The round tore through Jenkins's tongue and shattered his jaw. He survived. Read the date again. The twenty-fourth of January, two thousand and twenty-three. Not 1963. Not Mississippi in the era your grandmother remembers. Three years ago, in a house, by men in uniform, who had a name for themselves. What they did next is at nine this morning, and it is arguably worse.

SARAH: I'm 30. My parents set up a 529 plan for my education. I used it for undergrad and grad school. A year and a half after I graduated they sent me a promissory note I apparently signed as a teenager and told me I owe them $114,000. GEORGE KAMEL: $114,000. Was that what they put in or the balance of the account? SARAH: the balance. With compound growth. JADE WARSHAW: so they want you to repay the interest their investment earned. Money that cost them nothing. GEORGE KAMEL: did you know this was a loan? SARAH: I had no idea. My dad is a lawyer. He had me sign it before I fully understood what I was signing. JADE WARSHAW: Sarah I want to name what happened here. There was a significant imbalance of knowledge and power. A lawyer father. A piece of paper slid across a table. A teenager who trusted him. You didn't sign a loan agreement. You signed something you didn't understand because you trusted the person giving it to you. GEORGE KAMEL: for tomorrow's conversation. Lead with honesty. Tell them you had no idea. That if you had understood you would never have signed it. That you are grateful for what they did. And that you're asking them to forgive it because a 529 is meant for education. SARAH: I don't want to seem ungrateful. JADE WARSHAW: you're not ungrateful. You're blindsided. Say that. Tell them how it made you feel before you talk about the money. GEORGE KAMEL: and Sarah. Get your own attorney. Find out if this actually holds up. Because I don't think any court would require you to repay compound growth on a gift account. SARAH: I'm mostly hurt. JADE WARSHAW: of course you are. A father spent decades building a daughter's future with a 529 plan. Then handed her a bill for it a year and a half after she graduated. The money was never the point. The relationship is. And somewhere between a promissory note and a teenage signature he turned a gift into a transaction. That part can't be undone. But how the conversation goes tomorrow can decide what's left of everything else.

Joshua Michael found an access token on Flock's public website. No login required. No authentication. Just sitting there. He downloaded Flock's entire database. 300,000 device locations. 170,000 cameras. 130,000 other hardware units. 27,000 acoustic detectors. Made a map. Published it September 23. The Senate held a hearing on Flock the same day. Cited Michael's research. Flock panicked. Sent a cease-and-desist. Used a brand-protection vendor called Doppel to claim trademark infringement. The map said it wasn't affiliated with Flock. Doppel didn't care. Michael's site went dark. Then Proton moved it to Swiss servers. Now it lives on protonmcp.org. Untouchable. Uncensorable. Hosted by an encryption company in a country that doesn't care what Flock wants. The irony is crystalline. Flock left an access token on the internet. Michael used it to download their own data. Published it. Flock tried to suppress it. Proton said suppressing it is suppressing information. Which is true. The map shows Flock has 150,000 more cameras than they publicly claimed. Shows acoustic detection units mapping human speech across the country. Shows which police departments have access to the whole network. Flock doesn't want that visible. So they tried trademark infringement. Which only worked until Proton decided transparency matters more than Flock's feelings. Now everyone can see exactly how many cameras are watching their car. Where they are. Which cops can see them. Michael warned Flock about the exposed token in November 2025. Flock ignored him. Then got mad when he used it. The surveillance company that claims to protect privacy just tried to suppress the only map showing how much they actually surveille. And failed.
‼️ Proton is hosting a map of 300,000+ Flock surveillance device locations that Flock tried to get taken down. Researcher Joshua Michael says he pulled them from Flock's own systems via a token left open to anyone. Proton calls the takedown "an attempt to suppress information."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
