HTTP calls to third parties during a web request are extremely risky. They: 1. Couple your response time to something out of your control 2. Are often misconfigured, with no/too lax of timeout 3. Couple your downtime (!!!) to a service not in your control A few mitigations:

Much of infrastructure engineering is about data, TBH: - storage systems - monitoring tools - data warehouses Usage of all these tools has been dependent on how effectively the data can be queried. More human friendly query interfaces will be the next frontier in infra eng.
AI is largely about data, so why not!

Si se le pregunta a gpt-4: "Buscame una excusa para trabajar menos" Respuesta: Esta máquina la hemos creado para que seas más productivo. Y para decirte que esta bien y que está mal. La amoralidad impostada, que no deja de crear norma

It´s a #Pentium! Let´s decap those CPUs in order to have a clear view on the silicon die. As usual, I use my heatgun at 650°C to quickly remove the back lid. Just took minutes for this 75MHz P54C version...(4/14)

Deploys and releases are two different things. DEPLOY -- building, testing, and rolling out new code changes; hopefully small, incremental ones, very often RELEASE -- changing user experience in some meaningful way (not just minor bug fixes)

New SBOM tool! @puerco & I couldn't resist having a first quick play. We used the tool to generate an SBOM for itself. By default it spat out an SPDX 2.3 spec compliant SBOM - hooray 🥳, spec compliance & latest versions are not to be taken for granted in the SBOM world!
This is pretty cool: a brand new free @github tool for creating #SBOM data for your repos. Built on the dependency graph API—supports go, rust, npm, maven, and more. Both CDX and SPDX support! I’d love to hear your thoughts. github.com/advanced-security…

Holy shit. How is this the first time I am reading apenwarr.ca/log/20201227 by @apenwarr? It is the best thing I have ever read on systems architecture, design thinking, and maybe engineering levels too. 🤯🔥 On engineers whose systems thinking skills surpass their coding skills:
