Reading Hanieh’s Crude Capitalism and have no clue why a few months ago this book was being pitted against Kadri’s Accumulation of Waste. They are more or less talking about different things

⚡️ Mayor Zohran Mamdani's NYPD is poised to sign a three-year, $750,500 no-bid contract with Israeli surveillance firm Cognyte for FalcoNet, an AI-driven device that mimics a cell tower to track phones and can be mounted on police cars and drones or hidden in a backpack, the New York Daily News reported.
Cognyte won a tender to sell intercept spyware to Myanmar's state telecom weeks before the 2021 military coup, Reuters previously reported. Meta banned the firm the same year, saying its customers used fake accounts to target journalists and politicians in Kenya, Mexico and Indonesia.
The firm is part of an Israeli surveillance industry that grew big as a result of the military's monitoring of Palestinians, whose phone calls Israel's Unit 8200 has intercepted and stored by the millions, including to carry out genocide in Gaza and enforce a brutal illegal occupation in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

🇧🇷 President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva celebrated with supporters in São Paulo after Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court declared him the winner of Sunday’s presidential runoff against Flávio Bolsonaro, securing a historic fourth term just two days before his 81st birthday.
Lula won 51.76% to 48.24%, a margin of about 4.3 million votes. The win makes him Brazil's first four-term president and the oldest person ever elected to lead the country.
A former metalworker, Lula rose to national prominence in the late 1970s. As head of the metalworkers' union in São Paulo's industrial suburbs, he led strikes in defiance of the military dictatorship, and he was jailed in 1980, the year he co-founded the Workers' Party.
Lula was only 33 when he led the strike alongside the metalworkers’ union that challenged Brazil’s military dictatorship. He secured wage increases and was imprisoned.
His rival, the far-right Flávio Bolsonaro, on the other hand, has had only one occupation since the age of 21: spending his wealthy family’s money and engaging in far-right thuggery.
It’s funny how the people who pretend to care the most about so-called “democracy” also spend half of their time shaming people for not voting how they want them to. You really have to repress any discomforting thought that appears in your brain if you’re into electoralism
Has anyone ever tried a kneeling chair? Trying to work standing up but for some reason my brain stops working when I’m standing, need an alternative to not destroy my body when I work lol
On the Toronto election, while I think it is important to point out that rich suburbanites often get to decide the future of the city, what feels more crucial is that Chow, in being a proto-Mamdani, failed to maintain the base that elected her in the first place
People do not want to vote for liberals that pretend to be on the left after seeing that they sign off on a lot of the same policies as their predecessors (in the case of chow, maintaining exorbitant funds to police and instituting bubble zones against Palestine protesters)

Nathan Fielder made the one millionth movie about the extremely overplayed postmodernist idea that “truth like isn’t real bro” and everyone’s acting like that’s somehow good and not a decadent sickness infecting our critical faculties
Replying to @bog_obelisk
he’s just not interested in what you’re interested in which happens. he’s not particularly interested in truth, but how “truth” is constructed by an actor, a narcissist/elite scam artist, and a gotcha guy. you go into a “documentary” expecting something that was never on offer
Wondering if Nathan fielder has a bot army or something because the speed at which millennials with neck beards are responding to any negative tweet about his film…
I genuinely think the reason why this film is so astounding is purely because Nathan Fielder had an absurd opportunity to live with Elizabeth Holmes right before she goes to prison. Beyond that, I’m not sure the film does much besides raising some vague point about perception
I don’t really care about Nathan Fielder but he hasn’t said anything about “Israel” and someone making vague posts about him doesn’t really strike me as “proof” of his “secret” feelings. Also, what is this impulse to try and expose people as secret Zionists? What’s the point?

If Jessica Tisch “hates crime” then why doesn’t she go fight the crime in her own family of Epstein sex criminals and zionist freaks who love mass murder?

If you live in, let's say Chesley, Ontario and have a medical emergency between the hours of 5PM and 7AM, or on the weekend, your ER is closed. Yet, Doug Ford's government is blowing $50 million on removing bike lanes in Toronto.
