The fact that ActionSA people are still defending the Nasiphi while ignoring that Bronkhorstspruit’s water-quality problems were flagged as far back as the 2023 Blue Drop Report is terrifying.
So the warnings existed, but instead of demanding accountability, people are busy defending their political loyalties. Since when did protecting politicians become more important than protecting human lives?
A government that puts loyalty to its leaders above the health and safety of its people has no business asking for their trust. The people of Tshwane are not supposed to be collateral damage in ActionSA’s political battles.
If this is how accountability works when people’s lives are at stake, imagine what happens when the next crisis comes.
Our lives are not campaign material. Our health is not a political bargaining chip. And no mayor should be above accountability.

The President and Commander in Chief @Julius_S_Malema ending his address at the Madibeng Tshela Thupa Rally with a revolutionary song.
President addressed three Tshela Thupa Rallies today, and this one is his last one.

Who is really sabotaging Tshwane? Accountability starts at the top, not with a plant manager.
The rushed suspension of the Bronkhorstspruit plant manager just before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee briefing was not accountability. It was stage management. It let the City walk into Parliament looking like a victim of rogue officials, instead of answering for its own political failures.
The facts are in the government's own briefing to Parliament. Slide 26 records that in February 2026, the Department of Water and Sanitation issued a non-compliance letter on the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works. In March 2026, the City submitted an action plan with clear commitments: secure treatment chemicals, refurbish filters, install pumps, and recruit for critical posts. The department's finding is blunt: none of these commitments were implemented in the timeframes provided.
So we ask, who is responsible for filling those posts? Recruitment sits with Corporate and Shared Services and the MMC responsible is from ActionSA. In March 2026, that portfolio was led by ActionSA's Kholofelo Morodi, who was then fired over corruption allegations raised at the Madlanga Commission. Since April it has been led by another ActionSA MMC, Flora Monama.
For seven months, the portfolio responsible for staffing the City has been in ActionSA's hands. The posts were not filled, and the plant was left without the qualified process controllers that DWS says it needs.

The breakdown in @CityTshwane is systemic. Executive Mayor @NasiphiMoya handles overall governance, MMC Mashola is over water procurement, and MMC Hannes Coetzee is mandated to protect municipal assets. All three have dropped the ball collectively. No more excuses.

I work in construction too and you're right.
Local guys will speak up about safety and long hours. Foreign guys can't, so they just take it.
But that's not better work ethic, that's just fear of job-loss.
I might be missing your point, what's your definition of work ethic?
UNPOPULAR OPINION: As someone who has worked on several construction projects with both locals & foreigners. I can safely conclude that most South African labourers in this industry lack work ethic compared to guys from Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Most construction guys I have met prefer to hire foreigners for that reason. Most have tried to prioritise locals, but they always disappoint. Ke senya ke realo 🤷🏾♂️
They will never admit that the mayor dropped the ball on this one. They're in the comments looking for excuses not to this partially her fault

Another reason my vote is with the EFF. 😭 How do you trade Sihle Lonzi for people with over R100 million in funding but still need a budget to remember that young people exist? 💀 This is not a money problem, it’s a campaign problem. You can fund a party, but you cannot fund political instinct. 😭🔥
