Mr Opayinka, please permit me this digression. I am such a huge fan of your mind. And your ideas. Plus the way you see challenges. It is rare in this clime. Nobody anywhere has made me appreciate actuarial science more than you have, all the more so because you are an action man as well as a thinker. This your reply is one of my best moments on social media. On the pyramid of minds I respect the world over, yours sits in the small group at the top. Thank you for being. To the issue itself. I knew I was swimming against the current. But I had to. Someone had to. At first it comes as a shock. The ones who are open to it will reflect and see a lot more clearly. Thank you sir. Your response has made my day. I just need Arsenal not to make a mess of it.

"I'm not saying we do not need funding, but I think funding is not the top issue for us..." Taiwo Oyedele, Nigeria's Minister of Finance, says Tinubu's economic reforms are moving Nigeria from promises to measurable results, with market indicators reflecting growing confidence. He says climate action must also create jobs, generate revenue, and build cleaner communities. #UNGA81

BREAKING: J.P. Morgan includes Nigeria in new emerging-market bond index with 7.4% weight J.P. Morgan has included Nigeria in its newly introduced Government Bond Index–Emerging Markets Edge (GBI-EM Edge), assigning the country a 7.4% weighting in the benchmark designed to track local-currency government debt across frontier emerging markets. This is according to J.P. Morgan’s Global Index Research report dated September 14, 2026 seen by Nairametrics. The inclusion puts Nigerian naira-denominated government bonds back into a J.P. Morgan emerging-market benchmark more than a decade after the country was removed from the bank’s flagship government bond index in 2015.

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

For many Nigerians, one question about Eko Atlantic remained unavoidable: what would happen if the ocean became the threat again? Could a city built on reclaimed land withstand major coastal risks, including extreme flooding or even a tsunami? enterpriseceo.africa/index.p… @oopayinka

Can the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway generate trillions of dollars in value? The answer depends on whether you are measuring today's reality or the economic potential of the corridor over decades. One of the most controversial claims around the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is the suggestion that the corridor could generate anywhere from: $1.4 trillion to $14 trillion in enterprise value over the long term. At first glance, those numbers sound unbelievable. But the argument isn't really about the road itself. Watch the conversation Live on YouTube @nairametrics.tv youtu.be/hiKIXx8TYAI

If you had $5 million to invest in Lagos real estate today, would you choose Banana Island, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, or Eko Atlantic? For ultra-high-net-worth investors, the answer isn't just about location. It's about: Infrastructure, Wealth preservation, Long-term appreciation, Exit strategy and Legacy planning. And according to the discussion, one location stands out. Watch the conversation Live on YouTube @nairametrics.tv youtu.be/hiKIXx8TYAI

Nigeria's greatest resource may not be oil. It may be its people. When most people hear that Nigeria could have 800 million to over 1 billion people within the next 50 years, they see a problem. More traffic, More housing pressure, More healthcare demand, More schools needed... But entrepreneurs hear something different: More customers. The commencement of the dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road yesterday marks another major milestone in our collective drive for better connectivity, stronger commerce and sustainable economic growth across Ogun, Oyo and the wider South-West region. We sincerely appreciate the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for this strategic intervention under the Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, CON, and his team for their commitment to its implementation. For us in Ogun State, the project will significantly improve access to Ijebu-Ode, Ago-Iwoye and the Gateway International Airport, strengthen our industrial and agricultural corridors, create new economic opportunities and complement our ongoing investments under the Building Our Future Together Agenda.

Before you buy any Nigerian property, four numbers. Not three. 1. Gross rental yield 2. Title cost as % of price 3. Your hurdle rate — today, 17.59% (364-day T-bill) 4. Exit time, in months Most buyers can quote number 1. Almost nobody can quote number 4. #FridayFramework
