One of the main observations I saw when researching player sentiment for project ideas was that the maps seen in a negative light were restrictive in the choices of routes it provided to players and/or the types of team comps that could be played on the map. Player agency is key?
It's not burnout, it's fatigue.
Each season we go in with the same set of issues that don't get addressed or dealt with. So many obnoxious outliers in the meta are left untouched or get slaps on the wrist.
While others get buffed into an equally obnoxious state to try and combatant the power creep balance philosophy that Overwatch runs with.
Since release, JPC has been the most banned hero for a plethora of reasons. None of which get changed and instead she gets buffed to be faster and left with all the obnoxious interactions.
They knew the interactions she has are cursed from the start, but try to force it upon us to "enjoy" and "explore"
The less mechanically intensive heroes have their numbers buffed to the moon, making it so anyone can get a large amount of value on them. Anran and Winston are examples of heroes that get their numbers buffed often to keep them relevant. But that's artificially created.
It feels like they pick what heroes are meta and what we enjoy, without listening to any feedback or letting the players explore and find possibilities. It's as if they're creating Lego sets, but they build all of it for you every season, and just let you put the last 2 pieces together.
As for matchmaker, when they overbuff all these simpler heroes, it boosts players to elos where they don't belong. Coupled with a rank reset every 3 seasons, it never puts people where they belong and doesn't have a chance to balance out.
I'm not burned out of Overwatch, and I don't think anyone else is really. We're just tired of being told how we're supposed to play this game.

"I've been working so hard on my drops, and I let that one get away from me, man. Ugh. It would have been my first one of the season. But I felt like I did a great job not dwelling on the play, not being too focused on the drop and moving o. And on the end around, I finally got my number called again and I made a play."
