Gauging need/support for the idea of once again offering tutoring and other forms of learning assistance for students who may be impacted by Long Covid and other Post Covid conditions. Or for parents who have Long Covid/Post Covid conditions who are not able to support their young learners and could use some help. My wife and I are certified teachers here in Canada, she has 16 experience with kindergarten age children, and can assist most grades up to grade 9 for most subjects. I have 15 years experience working with students with a wide range of complex needs, and can support parents with behavior assistance. I can assist students of all grade levels for most subjects. We both started out working with youth in group homes, transitional homes, as well as provided 1-1 support for youth for years before we moved into teaching. I will be reaching out to various advocacy groups to assess the need and if a service like this would be useful. If there is a response, we will aim to offset the cost for those who need assistance through fundraising, grant application and sponsorship, with the aim of starting a non-profit if the need is enough to warrant it. The immediate goal is not to make money by charging people who have Long Covid, or who have children with Long Covid, but to rely on donations, sponsorships, and the spirit of the endeavor until we can either get a grant or build up the service to form a non-profit and attract larger sponsorship. If individuals want to donate to the service we won’t turn it down, but the hope is that we can raise enough to do this part time for now with help from others while we grow the idea. In addition to this I will continue with the work I have been doing to assist people in their personal advocacy and continue my search for full time employment but I wanted some feedback and to gauge the need for this idea. Please share with any advocacy groups, parent groups, Long Covid groups or individuals that you feel would like to avail of something like this and have them DM me please.
