In the UK we need to keep striving to ensure parents with learning disabilities are aware of the support and services they can access to help them to care for their children. #InternationalDayOfDisability #FamilyLaw #learningdisability #socialwork

Parents with disabilities can receive important advice and support from OTs to improve their living environment, which in turn can positively impact on their ability to parent. I have worked with excellent OTs who have made such a positive difference. #learningdisability

Thank you for raising this important issue. So often people with LD are very dependent on those who are abusing them. They may be groomed and exploited . There are definitely not enough specialist services they can access.
Watching #Dispatches “Trapped, Disabled & Abused” I’m feeling extremely anxious and proud, but more than anything I’m grateful to the team at @Channel4 and @CandourTV who gave this important subject the attention it needs. @louisa_compton Thank you for watching.
What an amazing 24 hrs since winning the Life Time Achievement Award. Fabulous evening and so many lovely messages of support.@parentassess
