When the Globe’s “political” reporters never ask Markey a hard question, about @dank’s trading tricks he learned while the White House, or how @AyannaPressley’s husband won a $2B state contract and their net worth is now in the millions, this is what they write…
Mass. has no competitive federal races in November. See where its lawmakers are spending their time and money, instead. trib.al/iJ1fLl2

If voters replace Collins with Jackson, they will be trading one of the most powerful members of the Senate — the chair of the Appropriations Committee, which approves every penny of discretionary spending Congress passes — for one of the least powerful. How many Maine voters, I wonder, understand what that trade could cost them?

The Boston Globe endorses a NO on 6.

Massachusetts voters will face nine statewide ballot questions this November. MassFiscal is taking a position on five.
Here’s where we stand and why:
✅ YES on Question 1: Expand Public Records and State House Transparency. Massachusetts is the only state where all three branches of state government are exempt from public records laws. Taxpayers deserve greater transparency into how decisions are made and how their money is spent.
❌ NO on Question 2: Don’t Expand Public-Sector Unionization Through the Ballot Box. Question 2 would create collective bargaining rights for certain public defenders. That could affect government spending and management flexibility while making future reforms much harder.
❌ NO on Question 4: No Election Day Registration Without Greater Transparency. Before dramatically changing voter registration, Massachusetts should make voter registration information more transparent and give the public better tools to scrutinize the system.
✅ YES on Question 5: Return More Excess Revenue to Taxpayers. Question 5 would strengthen the state revenue limit and make taxpayer rebates more frequent and larger. When Beacon Hill collects more than the limit allows, taxpayers should get more of their money back.
❌ NO on Question 6: Don’t Earmark More Sales Tax Revenue for Climate Spending. Massachusetts already spends billions on environmental and climate programs. Question 6 would automatically divert existing sales tax revenue into a dedicated fund, putting more pressure on the rest of the state budget.
MassFiscal does not take positions on issues that do not directly relate to its mission and has no positions on questions 3, 7, 8, or 9.

During a recent debate on Proposal 3, our Vermont State Director Elizabeth Brown pushed back on the argument that the amendment is needed to protect workers from billionaires and large corporations.
Her point: Vermont’s challenge isn’t an influx of big businesses. It's the state’s small businesses that are struggling with high taxes, high energy costs, closures, and difficulty finding buyers.
Before changing Vermont’s Constitution, voters should understand the potential economic consequences.

NEWS —
Mike Bloomberg is back, baby.
Bloomberg is putting $80 million into an effort to help Democrats, becoming one of the largest disclosed donors in the midterms.
At least $50 million of that is to help Democrats in the House.

Not that long ago, this street in Boston was full of thriving businesses. New Mayor and City Council, new Boston.
Huge win for those of us who have been fighting for more transparency and accountability in the State House. @DianaDiZoglio
Governor Maura Healey: "YES on 1."
During a 30 minute Q&A on @boston25, Governor Healey joined MassFiscal in declaring her support for Question 1.
She also said "YES" when asked if she would VETO any legislation that sought to mitigate its language.
Question 1 would bring the Legislature and Governor’s Office under the public records law, giving taxpayers greater access to their government's actions.
Vote YES on Question 1. Let in the sun! ☀️☀️☀️
(BUT will she support Question 5 and VETO any changes to that ballot measure??? 🤔🤷♂️🤷♀️)

Yes on 5
The false argument against Question 5 is that it will somehow force “painful cuts” to state government.
Question 5 does not cut state spending. It limits how quickly state spending can grow.
And even opponents of Question 5 are not making the same case about what it would actually do.
In one debate, an opponent of Question 5 warned about painful cuts. In another debate, a different opponent acknowledged the reality: “This is not a question about cuts.”
She even agreed that the Yes side was “absolutely correct” in explaining how the measure works.
The state can still spend more from year to year. Question 5 simply puts a reasonable limit on that growth while strengthening 62F, the law that returns excess tax collections to taxpayers.
Massachusetts taxpayers deserve that protection.

Governor Healey: "I've never been against gas."
Massachusetts Ratepayers: "Are you sure about that?"
Maura Healey's long track record of opposing natural gas and driving up the costs of your utility bills isn't some made up thing.
We’re living in the energy world Healey laid out for us over a decade ago. Your run away utility bills and skyrocketing energy prices are the direct result of the policies she's been pursuing for over ten years.
No amount of back peddling in the closing weeks of a re-election campaign will change this.

“Why is Healey making the Sagamore Bridge construction more expensive?
Project labor agreements limit who can do the work, adding unnecessary costs.”
