It's a strange time for those of us whose hobby is making games, particularly remakes and demakes. Using AI, games can be reverse engineered and copied in hours. My enjoyment comes from the process. Thankfully I don't do it for money so I, personally, am not losing anything.

Interesting times. I'll use AI tools (using Claude to help convert my #pico8 missile command to #picotron) but don't think I'll try the single-prompt method to create something. That's not where the fun is for me. Impressive. A little disheartening. Mainly interesting though.

I like this idea. In a job you’re probably going to be forced to use AI for coding (I pushed back at the start but it’s futile) so getting some decent hobby programming in in a high level language like Lua is great for learning and getting your coding “fix” - if that’s your thing

Not sure why, on my itch page, my #pico8 #missilecommand gets most hits and plays. pahammond.itch.io/missile-co… I became pretty obsessive about learning all about the original when I did this back in 2021. Even got a trackball! Might revisit in #picotron next
