Monday it looks as if I'm getting a new horse-a 9 yr old thoroughbred ex-racer turned lesson and trail horse. Fingers crossed she works out
Hurrah! Bound in Blood is sold out without even reaching most stores and is going to be reprinted. Dunno when, though.
Off to the stable to ride. Am looking for a new horse as Saddlebreds are proving too demanding and not much fun.
Rain for Xmas? Guess I should be glad that we missed the blizzard. Still, I like blizzards. Why else live in Wisconsin?
Can anyone really proof-read their own galleys? Well, I gave it my best shot, with the help of a few friends.
Try cantering at a semi-stand-still, slightly sideways, over a mounting block. What the blazes was Pip thinking? My thoughts: Aaiieeee!
3 years ago on Thanksgiving eve my mother died, just short of her 84th birthday. I regret that less then her 10 last years of dementia.
Sleeping with four cats is like being staked down like a tent. And if they roll into each other, oh, the hissing. My human, no, mine, mine!
Back from delivering meals. It's necessary work, but sometimes depressing. No fun, getting old, even considering the alternative.
...and at 58 I'm no spring chicken, to mix one's species. Guess I should be glad I can ride a high spirited Saddlebred at all.
Another good ride. Maybe I'm finally (after ten years) getting the hang of this. But then Pip is still young with a young horse's quirks.
Off to ride Pip again. Hope I'm right about the proper way to hold his mouth as it seemed to make all the difference last time.
There. That should be a better icon. The cat is an African serval in a wonderful Oregon petting zoo. He looks pleased; I look apprehensive.
Ah, I see. Conversation makes more sense. Not that it isn't sort of fun to report mundane details of one's life and other observations.
This is a very odd experience, ie tweeting. Do people respond or do I just keep sending random thoughts out into the ether?
