an extremely important thing to keep in mind about Gen Xers who were deep in 90s music scenes is that they had highly subjective experiences that severely overindexed the opinions of random assholes they knew, observations like this are not reliable
I think the luck of circumstance thing was for the many, many, many Geese shows that happened before this event
I've written about the Cameron Winter Carnegie Hall thing before and what i find most interesting is that, until recently, witnessing seminal cultural events was sort of a luck of circumstance. You didn't know that Dylan at Newport or the Royal Albert Hall would become what it was or Tupac at the House of Blues would be that moving or that the Daft Punk Alive tour was going to be something everyone talked about for the next two decades.
But with this concert, everyone was sort of told "this is going to be history-making" before it even happened which turned it into this odd futures market that people paid thousands of dollars to buy into. For the first time you could ensure you were there at some culturally significant event. It's a bizarre new world out there, and I say this as someone who likes Geese and Cameron Winter and this concert recording!

Martin is way past his prime, and he tries to hide this by only working with artists who are too big to fail, so it appears as though he's still on the songwriting winning streak instead of producing some superstar acts' worst music
this is basically the premise of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

yes, lots of artists have done this, it's in fact a pretty common fate for anyone who just keeps going because it's their life's work
a problem with U2 is they don't prioritize marketing their past works to new audience, they earnestly want people to focus on them in the present - even when they do reissues or album celebration tours, it's aimed at core audience, not new audience
this is a bizarre take for someone so beloved by what remains of the US music media... and like, really stressing the word remains here
now I come back through and instead it shows me extremely stupid comics takes... not really making a good case for showing up to X the everything app
Zara Larsson's "Midnight Sun" is a perfect example of a song that is way more satisfying to hear unexpectedly in a public setting than putting it on intentionally
to be so close to enlightenment yet so distant from it...

Are you suggesting that the demand for Lily Allen’s music in the U.S. has yet again been overestimated
Lily Allen is canceling most of her arena shows in the U.S. set for the fall in favor of booking new shows in theaters and amphitheaters instead.
The tour’s opening night at Madison Square Garden Sept. 3 is still on as planned. But arena shows at Los Angeles’ Forum, Chicago’s United Center, San Francisco’s Chase Center, Vancouver’s Rogers Arena, Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena and Montreal’s Bell Centre were canceled Monday, with ticketholders being notified they would automatically receive refunds in 5-7 days.

every time I come back to this site my "for you" feed has an increasingly worse stream of bad music takes, as though someone at X wants to get me to a point when I never return
Pretty sure I'm the only person to ever buy the Mouse On Mars/Lee "Scratch" Perry and Olivia Rodrigo albums together
...UNLESS some of you want to take the #OliviaMOM challenge
