Toward Multi(radio)metalated DNA: Enzymatic Polymerization of Metal‐Chelate‐Modified dNTPs.... onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/… With gratitude to reviewers and long-time collaborator F. Benard, pleased to share work of Antonio A. Wong in ACIE; hopefully the start of multi-metal labeling.
Pleased to disclose the first total synthesis of Orbiculamide A is now sealed in the synthetic record - a second "first" for the Perrin lab | Organic Letters pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…
With gratitude to reviewers, we are thrilled to report on a new type of hybrid drug: Baited SELEX: Drug-Directed Selection of Aptamers to PSMA for In Vivo Targeting of Prostate Cancer in Mice pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/jac… @PCR_news @BeatPCa @prostatecanada @PCFNews @AptamerSociety

Replying to @perrinlab
@perrinlab has developed a single-injection “dual-mode” tracer that combines PET imaging and fluorescence to help surgeons detect prostate cancer more precisely.
🔗chem.ubc.ca/new-tracer-could…
“Our tracer would allow a surgeon to use a hand-held Geiger counter probes to ‘hear’ areas of high radiation density that would accumulate in cancerous tissue not immediately visible," said UBC chemist Dr. David M Perrin. @UBCChem science.ubc.ca/news/2025-08/…
Versatile Bifunctional PYTA Derivatives for 225Ac labeling...jnm.snmjournals.org/content/… Now obvious: chelating 223Ra using Macropa with the electroneutral para-amide linker to PSMA, as opposed to an EWG-thiourea link reported in Abou et al. #CancerTreatment #nuclearmedicine #PSMA
Honored to report single-molecule fluorescent 18F-PET tracers targeting PSMA for multi-modal imaging prostate cancer; grateful to reviewers at J. Med. Chem. pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.102… #ProstateCancer #PETimaging #DualModeTracers #MolecularImaging #Radiochemistry #CancerDiagnostics

To distract everyone from the devastating NIH news, I recommend reading this Mirror Image Life discussion in Science magazine science.org/doi/10.1126/scie… or popular press cbc.ca/radio/thecurrent/scie… and our view on this topic: TLDR: do not forget about Glycans! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Is mirror life really a risk? science.org/doi/10.1126/scie… To be clear: no one has come even close to creating life on "this side of the mirror", let alone on "the other side". Until someone synthesizes life de-novo, starting on "our side of the mirror", we don’t need to worry.
Were mirror life to emerge, achiral antibiotics: ciprofloxacin, clofazimine, afabicin, trichlosan (to name a few) will be effective against mirror bugs. Same goes for antibiotics sold racemically e.g. ofloxacin.
And then the enantiomer of every other known antibiotic e.g. penicillin will be effective. Vaccines will work as well. A letter details these points: science.org/doi/10.1126/scie… #science #chirality #syntheticbiology #SciencePolicyForum @ScienceMagazine @ScienceNews @NewsMedical
Excited to report (with gratitude to the reviewers) on a large manifold of linchpin peptide stapling reagents, some brilliantly fluorescent, all of which work on native peptides at Chemical Science: pubs.rsc.org/en/content/arti… #peptides
Very nice work towards radiohybrids - Fluorine-18 incorporation and radiometal coordination in macropa ligands for PET imaging and targeted alpha therapy - now published in Chemical Communications pubs.rsc.org/en/content/arti…
Appreciating nice work from the Hocek lab on super-anionic DNA, it seems logical to replace the anions with cationic amines to create zwitterionic (electroneutral) DNA. Exemplary dNTPs for doing so are shown below (also conceivable for RNA).

Our newest paper on superanionic DNA displaying four different anionic groups (yes, even this can be synthesized by polymerase and it can hybridize!) just published in @NAR_Open doi.org/10.1093/nar/gkad893 @IOCBPrague @Akademie_ved_CR @science_charles
Just on line with gratitude to reviewers (for amatoxin synth): the most concise enantioselective chemical synthesis of dihydroxyisoleucine to date (no transition-metals, no CN, no RLi). pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs… #organocatalysis,#synthesis,#smallmolecules,#peptides,@HeidelbergPharm

Nice to see that a molecule invented by the Perrin lab for one-step radiofluorination and PET imaging is now being commercialized. biosynth.com/p/FP181316/1627… If anyone would like to purchase this from us instead, we may be able to oblige.
