Today marks 20 years since South Africa lost the extraordinary Lebo Mathosa in a tragic car accident on 23 October 2006. A fearless performer, a trailblazer and one of the defining voices of Kwaito, she helped shape the sound of a generation. Gone too soon, but never forgotten. Thank you AI, for refreshing my 20 year old picture with her . 🕊️🇿🇦

I wouldn’t look beyond Eddie Howe to replace #MichaelCarrick. As a former centre-back, he could sort out our defence quickly. More importantly, he knows how to build teams and has proved himself in one of the toughest leagues in the world. He’d be my choice for United. #ManUtd #MUFC #EddieHowe

I am now wondering if Pep Guardiola jumped ship knowing that this was coming.
🚨𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: This are the list of punishment Manchester city may face after being found guilty of 115 Premier League charges relating to financial breaches. 1. Removed from the premier league (they will start all over from league two) 2. Strip off of all Domestic trophies won (Premier league, FA cup and Carabao cup) 3. Huge fine and points deduction 4. Ban on transfers for 5 straight seasons.

In simple terms, City were accused of cooking their financial books to make themselves look more compliant with spending rules than they really were — including allegedly disguising owner funding as sponsorship income, failing to fully disclose payments to players and manager Roberto Mancini, breaching financial rules and then failing to cooperate properly with the Premier League investigation. One example: Mancini was reportedly paid £1.45m by City while also receiving £1.75m a year through a consultancy deal with Al Jazira in Abu Dhabi. The significance is obvious: if you make your income look higher and your costs look lower, you can potentially spend more on players while appearing to stay within the rules. That’s why this isn’t just “accounting” — it goes directly to whether City gained an unfair sporting advantage.

I disagree. In athletics, when someone wins by cheating, we don’t just punish them going forward and allow them to keep the title. They can be disqualified and the medals reallocated. Why should football be fundamentally different? If you finished second or third while playing by the rules, only to discover that the team above you gained an unfair advantage by breaking those rules, why should you simply accept that result? Relegation and a transfer ban punish future Man City teams. They don’t address the clubs and players who may already have been denied titles while competing within the rules. If cheating materially helped you win, then surely the trophies themselves have to be part of the conversation. Otherwise, what are we saying — cheat, win the titles, take the punishment later, but keep the glory?

I don’t think stripping league titles is okay. Send them to League 2 and replace them with the best relegated side from the EPL and Championship. Also ban them from buying players for three years.

That completely misses the point. What if you had players on the pitch you simply would not have been able to afford had you played by the same financial rules as everyone else? Would you still have won those league titles without them? Financial cheating isn’t some harmless accounting technicality. If you artificially inflate revenues or disguise costs, you increase your spending power — and that advantage ends up on the pitch. That is precisely why financial rules exist. You cannot gain an advantage by breaking the rules and then argue that the trophies are legitimate because the players still had to win the matches. Cheating is cheating. If it gave you an advantage over clubs that followed the rules, then it wasn’t a level playing field.

Win the league in the field Peter not boardrooms or court.

Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty of 114 of the 115 Premier League charges against them. Everton, Nottingham Forest and others have received points deductions for far fewer breaches. So what would constitute a fair and proportionate sanction for #ManCity? If the rules are to mean anything, surely the punishment has to reflect the scale and seriousness of the breaches.
