Unicode 17.0 is likely to come in September 2025, but UTC has not yet set a schedule.

If cognates can spread over 2000+ years and also across entirely different linguistic phyla and still be recognizable cognates, it doesn't seem unreasonable to suppose that continuous development in a single-language line could retain recognizable reflexes.
