Je suis horrifié par le cas de Jacob Blake et je suis profondément découragé de continuer à voir des incidents de brutalité policière contre la communauté noire malgré une prise de conscience accrue face à l’injustice raciale.

As this evening’s events have shown, sport has the ability to draw attention to & affect change through the influence and power of the athletes’ voice. We remain committed to listening to the Canadian athlete community and identifying meaningful opportunities to dismantle racism.

I am horrified by this week’s shooting of Jacob Blake and deeply disheartened to see continued incidents of police brutality against the Black community despite the work that is being done to bring awareness around racial injustice.

ALT Quote graphic with following text, with the COC logo underneath: Recent tragic events have caused us all to self-reflect upon how we can be better. We are once again reminded of the inequality and injustice that exists against the Black community in our society. We do not have all the answers, but we unite with our athletes and all Canadians in the fight against racism. We believe that starts with listening, dialogue, and amplifying diverse voices for positive change in our world through sport.
