an op-ed written with frankness + rooted in a personal place. have intentionally omitted many details out of respect for those who have borne the weight of personal costs:

Some feminist groups in Pakistan are shifting from symbolic protests to quieter, embedded collective work.
@wdf_pk’s Behnon ki Baithak on 8 March 2025 was one such experiment. @pind_wave on "After the March":

Street vendors are being displaced and their livelihoods completely destroyed by Mohsin Naqvi Sb and CDA. Entire markets which used to be full of vendors now have no semblance of life due to whatever money is being pumped in Islamabad. I wish these people visited lively cities and would stop trying to replicate the most gentrified cities of Europe. We aren’t Europe, get over your colonial hangover and let Islamabad be a living city that has streets vendors, food, opportunities for small vendors. It is just sad to visit certain parts of the city where the working classes have been strangled financially. #IslamabadBachao
you cleared carts and outdoor seating, bulldozed abadis, put up an ugly monument at I-8 + that gross i love islamabad sign, and now you want coffee shops in F-9 park!! islamabad is not your dubai project. stop it.

F-9 Park holds a special place in the hearts of everyone living in Islamabad.
Let me make it absolutely clear that Not a single tree will be cut 100% guaranteed. No new concrete structures.
Instead, we are planning better lighting, a beautiful lake, coffee shops, improved walkways, and the plantation of thousands of additional trees.
Our only goal is to make F-9 Park greener, safer, more beautiful, and more enjoyable for families and visitors.

Solidarity with Dr Habiba Kalsoom. Impunity for thuggery against Pakistani doctors and health workers trying to perform their duties needs to end. #JusticeforDrHabibaKalsoom
A person who claims to be MNA Ammar Leghari’s media adviser has been mentioned in connection with the reported incident involving my sister, Dr. Habiba Kalsoom. We call for an impartial, evidence-based investigation and equal protection under the law. #JusticeForDrHabibaKalsoom
took a monday leave after the longest work week of my life and now realising that even three days of rest will not help me recover from the exhaustion i feel. can barely get out of bed or open my eyes.
another snoozefest of a dar-e-nijaat episode after yesterday's slightly promising one. the only plus side to it being the teaser for what's gonna happen next week, i.e. khushbakht's past finally coming to light. yawn.
what's the urdu paper everyone reads the most in pk, one that slips in progressive columns? jang, still?

so the only people who can pass this test: those who can pay their own fees. telling others to refuse funding leaves studying abroad to the rich. if anyone's doing capital's work here, it's idiotic purity tests like these.

They don't have a choice. This person did.
Its ok. Your brand of performative virtue signaling isn't capable of self reflection.
You aren't the opponents of late stage capitalism. You people are a symptom of it. Its best foot soldiers.
a fulbright isn't personal hospitality - it's a foreign policy prog the US runs in its own interest. pakistanis have lived with the effects of US policy for decades, which gives us standing to speak about it. if the path closes cos students speak, that's on the state closing it.
taking a scholarship doesn't oblige anyone to stay quiet about the state that offered it. expecting gratitude in the form of silence is a pretty strange standard to apply to a student. really not into these individualized purity tests.
