“Baby Loss Awareness Week isn’t for us.” I think I’ve said that every year for thirteen years. Every week is BLAW for those of us who wake up every morning to find that yes, our child is still dead.

But hopefully, just for this week, even just for the next hour, everyone can put that aside and focus on the thing we can all agree everyone wants - better care, and better outcomes.

Happy twelfth birthday kiddo. “Twelve” has hit me hard today - it’s passed in the blink of an eye. It feels like you arrived just yesterday and yet somehow also feels an eternity ago. I love you more than words can ever explain, and by golly I miss you. 🌲💙

And yet, a decade on, we’re still not where we need to be, and in some ways the landscape is more problematic than I’ve known it at any point in the nearly-twelve-years since the reality of perinatal death became my reality completely out of the blue in the blink of an eye.

There’s still so much to do. I only hope that in the weeks and months to come, we’ll see different, conflicting, agendas put to one side and a universal focus on building the system up to make it better emerges - because *that’s* how we make things better for families too.

Parenting a child that has died is a very different experience to the norm, but last week I had the great honour of addressing the APPG on Baby Loss about the importance of high quality bereavement care - definitely one for the parenting bucket list! 💙🌲💖🌈💖🌈

Twelfth #waveoflight, the first time I’ve ever been away from home for it. So grateful to work with friends who just got on board without batting an eyelid. Things in the bereaved parent community are pretty ugly at the moment, so this felt like a moment of respite and calm…

Paracetamol is the first choice of painkiller if you're pregnant and is still considered the safest choice of pain relief during pregnancy. There is no evidence it causes autism in children. Kate Brintworth, our Chief Midwifery Officer, explains more 🎥

We discussed this last night, and Hallie (aged 6) said “when I’m Prime Minister, I’ll order this to happen!” We had a little chat about how our Parliamentary democracy works 🤣 but these constituents are behind you on this @tomgordonLD, keep going 💪🏻
Tonight Parliament failed disabled people. 🥀 Labour voted down my amendment to scrap unfair bus pass restrictions. 🌳 The Conservatives whipped their MPs to abstain. 🚌 This isn’t good enough. I won’t stop until disabled people get the fair, accessible transport they deserve.
