“He also told me that De Winter was still young and Pavlović could be rash with some of his decisions. He needed me to keep them organized and make sure we didn’t lose our shape.
“Personally, I was surprised. We were leading 2-1, and I thought my job would be to play further forward, create passes and help Ramos get into scoring positions. I wanted to control the game with the ball, not sit back and watch everything happen in front of me.
“But Mister had his plan, and I respected his decision. I went onto the pitch, sat deep and tried to do exactly what he asked.
