A gentler, kinder time, when a soft shoe, and a little Laurel and Hardy magic could make the world feel right again. Step by step, toe by toe, in "Way Out West" Stan and Ollie remind us that sometimes the simplest pleasures are the sweetest.

This paper answers why can’t you remember being a baby? For over a century, science said you can't remember being a baby because your infant brain was just too "immature" to record anything. researchers assumed your hard drive was basically turned off for the first two years of life. But this wild paper from Yale completely rewrites how we understand human memory.. Researchers literally put awake babies (between 4 and 25 months old) into an fMRI scanner to watch their brains process new visual experiences in real-time. and what they found is mindblowing.. the infant hippocampus isn't turned off at all. it is actively firing, capturing, and encoding episodic memories. they proved that babies with higher hippocampal activity during a new experience formed a highly stable memory trace. the babies are recording the data. the memory of your first birthday, your first steps, the exact layout of the room you slept in.. it was all successfully saved to your brain. so why can't you remember it? the paper concludes that infantile amnesia isn't an "encoding" problem.. it is a "retrieval" problem. your brain recorded everything perfectly. but as you grew, your brain underwent massive developmental shifts, like explosive neurogenesis (the rapid birth of new neurons), which completely restructured your neural networks. the pathways to access those early files got buried or locked away. you didn't fail to make the memories.. you just lost the encryption key to open them. somewhere deep in your hippocampus, the exact first-person memory of being a 1-year-old might still be sitting there. you just can't access the file anymore.. the human brain is terrifyingly beautiful.

A fraudulent paper claiming the COVID shots produced strong antibodies remained published for four years. Science Translational Medicine finally retracted it after an investigation found fabricated data and falsified images. Unfortunately, the damage has already been done.

Big Pharma Buys Your Doctor With Dinner A federal judge in Massachusetts blocked RFK Jr.’s ACIP appointees. The DOJ is now fighting in the First Circuit Court of Appeals to restore them. Del breaks down what the court actually said, why the judge’s reasoning fell apart, and what a new Cochrane Collaboration meta-analysis says about why conflicts of interest on that committee are exactly the problem Kennedy was trying to fix. Chief U.S. Circuit Judge David Barron said from the bench that the lower court’s order lacked any explanation for why blocking Kennedy’s 13 appointees was legally authorized or justified. He said it was β€œhard to know precisely what harm this relief was designed to address.” All Kennedy did was reconstitute ACIP with members who have no pharmaceutical financial ties. A meta-analysis of 93 studies by the Cochrane Collaboration now confirms what ACIP’s critics have argued for years: pharmaceutical industry contact is associated with less appropriate prescribing, greater prescription volume, and higher costs. The study’s author, Dr. Lisa Barrow, put it plainly. More contact with drug company promotion means prescribing becomes less appropriate, more frequent, and more expensive. That finding came from meals alone. ACIP members receive millions from vaccine manufacturers and vote on recommendations for the entire country. Del notes that Kennedy’s original target was the hepatitis B birth dose, a vaccine unnecessary for newborns not born to hepatitis B-positive mothers. That single proposed change triggered the injunction, blocked every ACIP meeting, and stripped Kennedy of the advisory infrastructure needed to act on anything else.

Oct 16-28, 1962. Thirteen days. The world stood on the brink of nuclear war. President Kennedy resisted pressure to launch military strikes, keeping communication open and pursuing a diplomatic way out. His restraint and resolve helped pull the world back from the brink. Sometimes, the greatest courage is choosing dialogue in the present. So we can have a future.

To all my physician colleagues who believe that if there were a cure for cancer the medical establishment would be the first to find it, I have some questions for you: The bar graph below demonstrates crude cancer mortality rates (CDC data) over the last 22 years. Yes, people have been living a little longer with cancer but the number of people dying from cancer per 100K has barely budged, this despite a reduction in smoking and greater screening for prostate, colon and breast cancer over this time period. Yet we are spending nearly $200 billion dollars a year in chemotherapeutic agents and research. Are you sure we are looking in the right places for cures or treatment? Though it has been decades since we mapped the human genome why have we not found more oncogenes? If the problem is in the nucleus, why does deep sequencing of an individual's tumor demonstrate many different genetic mutations? Why do different people with the same kind of cancer have different mutations in their tumors? It's been long known that if the nucleus of a cancer cell is transplanted into the cytoplasm of a healthy cell, the hybrid cell remains healthy. And, if the nucleus of a healthy cell is transplanted into the cytoplasm of a cancerous cell, the hybrid cell remains cancerous. Isn't it obvious that cancer most likely isn't a genetic problem like the National Cancer Institute insists? Here are three introductory articles that explain why we still have our blinders on: Part 1: madhavasetty.substack.com/p/… Part 2: madhavasetty.substack.com/p/… Part 3: madhavasetty.substack.com/p/… @sasha_latypova @DrAseemMalhotra @DrSuneelDhand @NassMeryl
