Downside of 18V+ Makita BL drill tools is that they're a lot louder than you expect until it's 9:30pm and you're trying to replace the hinges on a gate so that you can lock away the fur-clowder for the night. Good reason to keep the 12V CXT model around. Neighbours are :[ grr :[
Need a way to have X/Twitter filter out all the AI-is-here/end-of-jobs/AI-how-are-you-doing-it posts.
Was interesting originally but now seems like it's nothing more than farming.
Hours of closing gaps by jamming my fingers in to colourbond fence edges, trying to push in Sikaflex FC11+ and foam, and then I realised all I needed was a length of dowel or maybe even just some 25x25mm H3 and it'd do a better job :sigh:
Tomorrow will be better. #snakes
First moves to AI becoming more expensive for me; Gemini dropped the "pro" model from my year plan so I moved to AIStudio. Instead of $300/yr it's now $300/mth at the rate I'm going :|
No doubt all models are going to become more expensive for a while as the fiscal realities hit
NGL, very happy I had automated security updates active on my hosted server; php patched 4 hours before I realised something was up by the sound of billions of admins screaming.
At least AI code generation lets you build & test silly features quickly, so no great harm if they don't end up being as you hoped.
Vim facility learned today, :tag / :tj / :ta combined with set ignorecase and now I can jump straight to my functions without knowing if they're CaMelcaSe or lower without even seeing the fn name in my current buffer.
Freedom!
After a few years of my MiniBufExplr training wheels in vim, today I took the plunge and removed it outright from my .vimrc , now relying on :b <partial bufname> to jump around.
Should have been here years ago!
Sometimes, rarely, you look at things and are actually almost impressed and think "I developed that!"
FlexBV6 getting closer to public release.
At this point, having all layers, transparent, on 4K display, and still getting solid FPS rates, using ImGui, without resorting to offloading to a separate texture layer, I'm impressed ( this is all via the impl SDL3 renderer )
Absolutely gazillions of triangles I'm trying to melt/clip here, the level of detail is finally incredible
Amazed that something a genuinely interesting to see as the car-flip has bought out so much negative dismissal by people profoundly certain of their stance.
I suggest doing even 6 months of ME Statics & Kinematics.
Lots of energy being used up moving goal posts.
Unless you're already experienced in design & coding you're likely at a notable disadvantage for ascertaining if your agent is providing you with quality results; ultimately trading tokens for sparseness of knowledge.
The "Mythical Man Month" is still ringing true, especially the "No silver bullet" section ( worrydream.com/refs/Brooks_1… )
A lot of people could do well to read this book.
The hangover for these Adobe/MS clone euphoria events is going to be brutal.
Once the dopamine has worn off and it's back to triaging bugs/policies/plans there's going to be difficult to keep going and they'll be just another Gimp/Inkscape/LibreOffice project.

Thinking AI will build a great app without proper management is akin to hoping a nailgun will build you a house when let loose on a stack of wood.
