This week, 20 years ago, I was a student in Italy and built an open source tool that let anyone publish a podcast. I maintained it for over a decade as a passion project. It became the foundation for @rss.com For the 20th anniversary, the full story: podcastgenerator.net ❤️
ALT Podcast Generator 20th anniversary banner. It reads: "April 5, 2006 to April 5, 2026. Podcast Generator, 20 Years. The open-source engine that quietly powered a generation of podcasters".

We love Podstatus! I’ll have to start using the category rankings lists as opposed to just my individual history of rankings

Spotify shut down Chartable. A (seemingly ) bootstrapped startup that does exactly what Chartable does, but at 1/10th the cost: @podstatus
(My only affiliation is that I’m a paying customer.)
The best time to build is before a competitor folds: before the “goldrush” begins!
$2m ARR startup idea of the day
rebuild chartable (billboard 100 for podcasters)
just got this email from spotify that chartable is shutting down
from time to time you get a gift like this
a big company shuts down something a niche of people love
the validation is already there, this is a speed to market/marketing challenge:
here's the startup playbook:
1. create beautiful "coming soon" page on framer
2. scrape twitter/linkedin for chartable mourners (use something like phantombuster)
3. cold DM every podcaster you can find (they all used it) with ai tools like GPT, Synthesia, heygen etc
4. promise "chartable, but better". tease that one feature they always wanted (and build it)
5. collect emails like your life depends on it
6. launch quickly, sell to 80% of audience, make 20% free
big tech just gifted you a goldmine
they killed a tool podcasters can't live without
probably a $2M ARR business here
at a 6x saas revenue multiple, you just built a $12m asset
that's pretty cool
enjoy

¡Gracias!🦬💭

👏 Amazing to see we have broken into the Canada 🇨🇦 iTunes chart for the History category at no.238 only 9 behind @OttomanHistory, our inspiration for starting.
We're no.12 in Lebanon 🇱🇧 this weekend.
Thank you to our listeners for their support!
