What is so striking is how many conservative mps are still talking about what is “ best for the party”. It’s a real give away - that party still seemingly comes before country and constituents and democracy.
I really don’t want to be unkind, but he does seem to be more worried about the damage to his party and their mortgages, than he is about any of the havoc wreaked on the country.

When Mrs Thatcher was ousted after 11 years, out of sympathy for her financial situation, Parliament introduced a Public Duties Cost Allowance of roughly £115,000pa for ex-PMs. If Liz Truss resigns after 2 months, she will receive the PDCA "pocket money" for the rest of her life.
