I recently started making an app and decided to go with laravel thinking I'll end up learning some laravel and php along the way. I've not touched a line of php code yet and everything... just works. Auth, queues, s3, email. Hosting on laravel cloud which was simple to set up.

I miss YouTube videos about coding that aren't just about AI. I liked learning about new techniques, packages or frameworks.

I really enjoyed @bramus talk on View Transitions @middlesbroughfe today. Now I just need to find somewhere to use them...

Writing a web component and creating an element with a class name, event handlers and data attributes makes you appreciate the syntatic sugar of JSX.

Having some fun playing with Web Components and learning different patterns. Have a basic DatePicker going so will write a blog post soon. Using them from react 19 is also really easy.

I'm going to try and learn about web components. I've decided to learn by trying to build the final boss of components. A date picker.

Upgraded to Next 15 and was painless, the code mod worked well. Going to do some refactors to use some of the new apis around form actions.

Possible rose tinted glasses but is football less entertaining these days? Players are better technically and teams better tactically but many games are dull. Build up is formulaic, possession seems to be the main metric. I thought it was scoring more goals than you concede.

Keep possession, work your way up the pitch. Come up against an organised defence. Work it down one wing, cut back safe pass another pass to the middle then back out to a wing and repeat, until possession is lost. No runs behind, few risks taken. Just keep possession.

There seems to be an obsession with style, having to play a certain way, when the only thing that counts is goals. What is the problem with being a defensive team getting goals on the break? Feels like there is some kind of shame setting up like that. Play to your strengths

I just learnt you can list projects on LinkedIn. No idea if you get a backlink but can't hurt...

I'm really enjoying learning RSCs and using Suspense. Lots of new patterns to learn that bring a lot of power, fast loading and the ability to have async components. There's complaints about all this stuff and wonder whether it's warranted. Maybe people don't enjoy learning?
