Oh is the New York Times having a little feeling about its complicity with fascists? Awww
I'd used all my miles to upgrade seats, b/c kiddos, and xcountry flight. I've cancelled my @AmericanAir credit card & will avoid this airline at all costs. I'm already nervous flying b/c misgendering, "genital anomaly" security searches, bathrooms, etc. 5/
I confess to using kiddos as figleaf to pass/get better treatment (also am white). But @AmericanAir claims score of 100 on @HRC and yeah, I DON'T THINK SO.
#TW #transphobia #homophobia I, spouse, 2.5 yo, 9 month, @AmericanAir DTW-PHX. Seats weren't together, but checkin agent told us to ask at gate. Gate agent told us to ask on plane. Boarded, smiled, said hi, & asked flight attendant abt seats. She yelled, called us liars?, 1/
I gave feedback about this to @AmericanAir - their response: "we recognize that your experience did not meet the level of customer service you expected and I truly hope you will accept my sincere apology for the disappointing service you received." No amends whatsoever. 4/
to sit down. Took off, we were shaking, pretending to be calm for kiddos sake. Person next to me apologized for what happened. @AmericanAir Flight attendant ignored us, brought water etc. to other passengers but not us. Eventually spoke to us, sharply, repeatedly misgendering. 3
told us to stand aside, called security, continued to shout at/about us. We did nothing, were stunned & didn't want to escalate, esp. w/ kiddos in tow. Passengers watched open-mouthed, one offered to swap so cd sit together (all we'd asked for in 1st place), security told us 2/

The Wayward Children Golem podcast dropped! @kaijupoet & I talk Golems including why they don't look like clay, weren't the inspo for Frankenstein, & why the Jewish lore way cooler than that. And we admit we like clay golem stories anyway :)

ALT Colorful book cover of Neis’s When a Human Gives Birth to a Raven, description of comic and book. Followed by comic about how modern invocations of so called Judeo Christian tradition or values do not fit with oddness of ancient Jewish ideas about life-making, gender, eroticism, and kinship. Page 2 has drawings of non-cis rabbi Yohanan and their interventions into married women’s generative and sexual lives. Page 3 has drawings about Lilith as intervening similarly.
#AARSBL13 is in Texas. The comic challenges rightwing invocations of “religious values” and “The Judeo-Christian Tradition” as justifying restrictions of reproductive and gender affirming healthcare.

Much to the surprise of the early members whose portraits hung behind me, I was honored to be inducted today in the @AmPhilSociety, the oldest learned society in the US, founded in 1743 by Benjamin Franklin.

While I was offline yesterday the kind folx at @routledgebooks sent us a flyer for the Critical Ancient World Studies book! It’s going to be open access too, but if you’d like a paper copy you can now get all of that same opposition to eurocentrism for 20% less! 🥳
