0) The #1 question I get from founders:
"What's a typical valuation & round size at pre-seed in the Nordics?"
Poor understanding of this has 100% contributed to shitty cap tables.
So, here's what I'm seeing, hope it's useful for founders & investors alike!

Not with Andreessen himself, but pretty much every firm I talk to these days claims to have some interest in analytics around startups. Whether they actually plan to use it is another story.

Just a reminder, it is your job as a founder to pursue M&A opportunities when the time is right. It shouldn’t be a taboo topic w founders/investors. By a pure numbers POV, you’re going to sell your company at some point. 1/14

Thread: “Fake it til you make it” is a key strategy for overcoming the chicken-and-egg problem of starting a new marketplace, popularized by companies like Uber and Yelp. The idea is to bootstrap one side of the marketplace inorganically in order to attract the other side.

Is there a set of off-the-shelf incorporation & Series A docs that could gain industry acceptance like SAFE note has for Seed? Startups & VCs waste lots of time and legal fees on redlines. Novel terms only snag every future diligence process. Let’s innovate on product, not legal.

A constant I tell my students to keep in mind. Media covering investment rounds as success events and forgetting about companies also doing progress without VC money does not help. VC is a solution for certain companies at a certain point of time, it’s not mainstream SME funding.

What if your model takes into account the fact that if income taxes are high enough, startups stop happening? These economists tried it, and found the optimal tax rate is 29%.

7) The future of VC marketing is really no different than any other industry -- it's going to go mostly online. (with some in-person such as at conferences) But no longer should you have to go door-to-door to find your customers (deals).

6) People are always bewildered when I mention we invest outside the Bay Area. How do you see deals from other places? This is intriguing to me, because when I ran my product startup, we had customers from everywhere. So seeing deals from everywhere should be no different.
