New friends over rainbow bridge RPD Jimmy.Hugs to your friends and family and thank you for every day that you supported the people on your patch💙🌈🐾🤗
Our precious RPD Jimmy. Our 700th member. We thought there would be so much more time. 💜 We are heartbroken to share the news that RPD Jimmy, who served with @nottspolice for six and a half years, has travelled over Rainbow Bridge very unexpectedly. We only saw him two months ago and completely fell in love with him. Welcoming him as the 700th member of the NFRSA family was such a special moment. To be writing this now is desperately sad. Jimmy was James’ first General Purpose Police Dog, fulfilling the dream that had brought him into policing 23 years earlier. Together, they served as a General Purpose and Firearms Support partnership. Jimmy’s phenomenal nose found people who would otherwise have escaped, and through it all, he always had James’ back. Affectionately known as ‘Jimmy the Gob’, his enthusiasm could certainly be heard. But behind that wonderful, noisy character was an affectionate, loyal family dog, and James’ best mate. When Jimmy became unwell and wasn’t himself two weeks ago, James was worried sick. On the Sunday morning, he rang the vets to arrange to bring him in. James’ son had been away overnight and arrived home that morning. Jimmy had waited for him. Then, at home, in his own bed, surrounded by the people he loved most, Jimmy knew what was best, and he gently fell asleep for the last time. There is comfort in knowing he was with his family. But it doesn’t make losing him any less heartbreaking. After everything he had given, Jimmy deserved years of retirement. Time to potter, play, make a tremendous racket and simply be loved. He had barely begun. His sudden loss has rocked his family, and ours. To James, his family, and all who loved Jimmy - we are so very sorry. Thank you for sharing your extraordinary boy with us. Sleep peacefully, dear Jimmy. Our 700th member, and always part of our family. Track: ‘Guardians Don’t Fade’ by Roy Stone - available on all downloads and part of his amazing album - ‘Gentle Beast’

In Memory of RPD Iggy - Police Scotland. We are very sad to share we have said goodbye to a member of the NFRSA family. Retired Police Dog Iggy, a remarkable Dutch Shepherd, also known as a Dutch Herder, dedicated years of his life to protecting communities as a General Purpose Dog with @PoliceScotland. Serving in the Fife area from September 2013 until July 2019, Iggy played a vital role in policing, helping to apprehend offenders and earning a reputation as a highly capable and extremely determined working dog. He regularly made local newspaper headlines after helping to catch suspects, especially on one occasion when he apprehended some prolific burglars. Following retirement, Iggy began a new and gentler chapter as a much-loved family companion. Although his working days were behind him, he never lost the enthusiasm and energy which defined him. He adored long walks, agility sessions, cuddles, tummy rubs and spending time with the people who loved him the most. Sadly, after a brief illness, Iggy crossed rainbow bridge peacefully in the arms of his family last weekend. He was just short of his 14th birthday. His family shared these words in his memory: "On the 18th of October, with a gentle hand and a heavy heart, our wonderful RPD Dutch Shepherd Iggy passed away peacefully in our arms, only a few days before his 14th birthday. After years of dedicated service, he brought endless loyalty, strength, and joy into our lives during his well-earned retirement.” “Iggy, you leave behind massive paw prints on our hearts that can never be replaced. Thank you for your service, your devotion, your hyperness - but mostly your love.” “Rest easy our brave boy, until we meet again. We will miss you forever." Thank you for everything, Iggy. Your duty is done - now it’s time to rest.

So sorry to read this post. What a beauty RPD Khobi. New friends on your next journey and thoughts to your family 💙🐾🌈
In Memory of Khobi. We are very sad to share we have lost a much-loved NFRSA family member, RPD Khobi. Retired Police Dog Khobi was a handsome black German Shepherd (GSD) who served with Greater Manchester Police @GMPDogs @gmpolice for nearly seven years, working alongside his handler, Lynne. From locating missing people and recovering property to detaining offenders, Khobi approached every task with dedication, courage, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the communities of Manchester. He was a remarkable police dog. In 2022, Khobi completed his operational career and finally hung up his harness, beginning a well-deserved retirement. But retirement didn’t mean taking things easy. Khobi took on a very important new role – becoming the protective older brother to his three sisters, Missy, Star and Ginny - and even the garden fox, who used to sit with him in the garden. Lynne shared some beautiful memories of Khobi’s retirement with us: “Ginny the black cocker spaniel is the youngest and last addition to his pack. She has loved tormenting him and he has loved playing and teaching her just how far she can push it. Missy adored lying next to him after a hard day at work and Star the Springer Spaniel, who was once his work buddy, became his retirement buddy. “He has enjoyed every minute of his retirement, through paddling pools and ball games, and he has lived life to the full. “At almost 13 years old he has done well not to need any major medical assistance and led a fairly pain free life however, when we needed them this year, the NFRSA have been there. For that I will be forever grateful. “Thank you for helping me with his veterinary bills, the final bill, and the phone call to make sure I was ok - and thank you to everyone who donates to the NFRSA for helping them to help us. It really is much appreciated.” Khobi may have retired from police work, but he never stopped being a very special part of the family, and as a member of the NFRSA family, it was our privilege to be able to support him when he fell ill, and at the final moment as he left. Thank you, Khobi. For your service, your dedication, and for everything you gave to the communities you protected. Sleep well - never forgotten. ____________ ❓𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞:The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals - UK reg. charity. 🫶𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨: Support retired service animals (who can struggle to find affordable insurance) with vet and medical bills. 🐾🐴𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩: Retired dogs and horses from the police; and retired dogs from the prison; border force; fire & rescue; MOD police; RAF police; NHS; and National Crime Agency services.
