Watching @Shout_Studios’ BluRay release of THE WIZARD. A critical failure upon its 1989 release, it serves as the first family film to examine childhood trauma and the broken promise of the perfect family set upon the boomer generation. It’s a beautiful story and a solid movie📀

It's more than a movie. It brought Mario 3 into the light... a tale of family trauma and healing... peppered with Nintendo references, hilarity and a big heart. I'll always defend this film. My brother Zak & I appreciate you, @Shout_Studios! #TheWizard

#OTD in 2008, it was tragic death of actor Brad Renfro, gone at 25 to an accidental heroin overdose. Hollywood wanted an edgy young actor and found it in Brad: he was especially good as the teen obsessed with Nazis in Apt Pupil, but also excellent in Sleepers and Bully. Sad tale
