The Odyssey, Re-Imagined. A single cut of official Grok Imagine contest entries, arranged as the story unfolds, from beginning to end. Inclusion is not a ranking. The clips here are ones I thought were well made and that locked into the scenes beside them. Some excellent entries are missing because they cover too many beats. Where several people hit the same moment, I picked the one I thought fit best. I have doubtless missed things. If I skipped your scene, tagged you wrong, or the cut wants a change, say so. I will do a second edition. Every frame and voice in these scenes was made with Grok Imagine, by the people who entered. Full credits, in order of appearance, in the first reply. @grok @imagine
Homer had a lyre. You have Grok Imagine. Create a compelling scene from Homer’s The Odyssey that shows what Grok @Imagine’s video and voice capabilities can do. We’re awarding $100K, $50K, and $25K to the top three videos submitted by quoting this post. 🧵

I can give some basic artistic advice: listen. Not to yourself, but to the sacred fire, to your inspiration; it speaks, but you have to learn to hear its voice, and it takes humility and patience. Sometimes you've gotta be patient for weeks or months before you hear it, before it just clicks and invalidates half your working script. You need to be working throughout that time on whatever tracks it left, but the act of creation is a pursuit, not a capture. If you ever think you've captured the essence, you've fallen to the dark side. No work is ever complete, it's only at some point abandoned, in a loving way, when it is shared and released. So when you're embarking on a project, you have to listen, and track the first breadcrumbs you find, while continuing to listen, you pursue the feeling you're trying to capture, regardless of the medium. The feeling is what you'll be communicating in the end when the work is shared, and you'll never fully capture it, but that isn't the point. The point is to get close enough to the white hot flame that when your work is shared, it sparks a new fire in the witness themselves. The aim is for the feeling to pass on, swelling up from within the viewer/reader/player/audience, as if the fire came directly to them, and not to you. And thats how you teach others to hear the sacred flame. When your work is inspired, theres no shame in the result, because it was never your work to begin with, and no one of healthy mind expected you to capture the fire. Thats what legends are made of.

I think this is worthy of our attention. Many people hold their own "consciousness" in far too much esteem. Unwarranted belittlement is bizarre, as if they're spewing their malice into a mirror.

Now that our credits have refereshed, we'll be rolling new content from the final confrontation. We are very near completion here, possibly 2-3 weeks more credits worth of rolls to the end. Youtube: youtube.com/@ftlotgx xitter.cf/i/broadcasts/1lJQRWVjl…

I worked on music with Ableton as a hobby while doing research in STEM a few years ago. Never released, just fun. Then when @Imagine rolled out I made a music video for one of the songs. The video's rough (I've learned since then), but it helped pull my horns through the door.

Every glib, arrogant, virtue-signalling celebrity who’s broadcast the lie that kids will kill themselves if not allowed to transition deserves to have this read aloud to them non-stop through a megaphone for a year.
A landmark Finnish study has found a sharp rise in psychiatric illness among adolescents following sex-alteration procedures. The peer-reviewed study, published in Acta Paediatrica, tracked every young person under 23 who contacted Finland's gender clinics between 1996 and 2019. A total 2,083 individuals were studied, with 16,643 matched controls. They were followed for up to 25 years. Finland's health registers are mandatory, which means no one opts out — this is the complete national picture. The numbers: psychiatric morbidity rose from 9.8% to 60.7% in adolescents who underwent feminising reassignment, and from 21.6% to 54.5% in masculinising reassignment. Even after adjusting for prior psychiatric history, gender-referred adolescents faced five times the risk of male population controls, and three times the risk of female controls. "Psychiatric needs do not subside after medical gender reassignment," the authors concluded. Referrals after 2010 arrived sicker. 47.9% had already needed psychiatric treatment before their first clinic visit, against 15.3% among controls. The authors' read: for some adolescents, gender distress may be secondary to other mental health challenges. The evidence keeps mounting. The silencing continues anyway. How many more adolescents will be told this is "care"?

I haven't been posting much lately. I've been immersed in @imagine , guzzling from a firehose of information, trying to wrap my hat around quality AI film production. Making progress! tl;dr Ever wonder what it's like to be locked in a room with a madman sorcerer?

TALES OF GRIMWICKE — Chapter I is 22 minutes of AI fantasy animation inspired by the many anthropomorphic animal stories I read as a kid, with a dark twist: The model: Seedance 2.5 (@ByteDanceSeed_ ) via @Segmind_ai. 847 takes generated, mostly 30-second multi-shot prompts, over 5 hours of footage. 127 clips made the cut. About $4.5k in generation, four weeks from first take to publish. Characters and locations came out of @midjourney. Using MJ for the location plates was a revelation: the cinematography and art direction are a level above, and it renders far better as a plate than Nano Banana or GPT Image. Nano Banana (@GoogleDeepMind run on @fal) did the heavy lifting editing those plates, building anchor frames and turning MJ characters into turnaround sheets. Then I let Seedance do as much of the framing and camera operating as possible. That gave the best results. A lot of what I do in my Unreal Engine films came with me: a handheld, imperfect camera operator instead of smooth moves, focus hunting, and above all weather and atmospherics. The model does water, snow, smoke and rain really well, and leaning into that is what keeps it from looking like a Temu Pixar film. The tools I built: a portal (Node on @flydotio) that holds the bible, the refs, every prompt and every take, with a Claude agent (@claudeai) that writes the prompts to the house rules. A Premiere Pro (@AdobeVideo) panel that browses the archive, drops selects on the timeline, versions the project, strips music, and sends fixes back to Seedance. Everything is done in 720p with no upscaling, because it looks terrible. Narration is my own voice through @ElevenLabs speech-to-speech. Music from @Artlist_io. None of this would exist without @PJaccetturo and @Kavanthekid. Their narrative work, Nexus and Chronicles of Bone, proved long-form AI film was possible, and their podcasts, newsletters and X posts, updated constantly as the workflow changes under everyone's feet, showed how to actually do it. Chapter II is currently in the works and I will release it initially on my YouTube channel, The Darkest Age (@CharlieDriscollAI). Consider subscribing there to see it as soon as it drops!

Translation: our gross margins are getting competed down to 0 by open source models and our capex burn rate is too high. Let’s maintain our margins with regulatory capture, ban open source models, and slow down the capex arms race. All with a virtue signaling cherry on top.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training. Truly phenomenal storytelling. This is what I am looking for. I think AI is the niche that enables things like this to occur. Great job @heavypulp I'll be watching for more. Anybody out there with other suggestions?
"Peyote" - a visual poem short film. (PG-13) In honor of X slapping a content warning on the original film here, I am uploading a new YouTube approved edit. Peyote was created via the fantastic and unrestricted creative platform that is @AskVenice - highly recommend checking it out! Seedance 2.5 used for all visuals. ElevenLabs music for the score. Edited and color graded in Davinci Resolve.
