We haven’t dropped any episodes of the pod in a while because we recorded a bunch of new episodes and all of them had some weird audio or video issue that had to be figured out and it killed my momentum but we coming back soon.

YouTube tutorials will have you spending so much time trying to find the perfect vocal chain that you will completely forget how far you can get with just an EQ and a compressor.

No matter how many beats I make, there will always be a certain part of sampling that amazes me. I needed a change from sampling rock and soundtracks and decided to grab a stack of gospel records that I hadn't listened to in a very long time. Oddly enough, I found this sample on a record that I've had forever, but didn't really hear it the first time around. It's funny how as time passes, our ears change. Records that used to grab me don't grab me anymore, while records that never grabbed me before grab me now. Last week, I fell into real beat-making groove, so I'm getting more confident that I'll get to 100 total beats by the end of the year. At any rate, this is MPC Sample beat #51. Messing with this MPC sample so much lately has really made me revisit and appreciate DJ Premier’s work even more. He made so much classic material with machines like this and his ear was crazy.
