I think had Max not had the option to go to the Mediums, they probably would have pitted him right away. Like you said, after a lap or two, they had missed the window to cover the undercut and hoped other options would pan out.

Upgrades helped a ton. Will be very interesting at end of season to see how all the cars progressed. Early Ferrari dominated start. Now more equal among the teams.

I think they hoped for one of two things 1) Max’s Hards would last so he could put on Medium to finish race on and tire offset would make up time lost. 2) George’s final set of Hards fall off and he has to nurse them to finish where Max catches up and passes. Neither happened
