I have barely used Twitter/X/whatever over the last year and my life is much better for it. I’ll keep my account until it’s taken away but if you’re looking for me, look elsewhere!

Just kicked off a couple days away from work. I'm eating chips with chopsticks so I can play Diablo 4 without getting my keyboard/mouse greasy and salty. So I think things are going pretty good so far.

This weekend I wanted to have my kids experience programming that was: 1) Real, not Scratch or some non-prod thing 2) Accessible, feel like "I can do this" 3) Short form, build a "program" in a single setting We made a dice rolling app in about 1hr...

When we started, my oldest was really uninterested. He said programming was "boring" and wanted to do something else. At the end, he was excited to show mom what he had made and experiment with styling it to look cool. I really love outcome-focused teaching!

I think a lot of the abstract Scratch exercises in school that try to make development "easier" actually turned my kids off of programming. I wanted them to experience dev the way I learned it: having a vision for something and working through the problems to get there!

A question has an answer. A Request has formal meaning in many orgs (like an ADO item type). An “ask” usually has some deliverable or artifact as a response. It has an action cost. So it does have a useful meaning despite its corporate buzzword status.
Thoughts on “ask” as a noun?

My wife called and asked me to get the chicken thighs out of the freezer. I told her we don’t have any chicken thighs in the freezer so she said she’d check when she gets home- your thoughts and prayers are appreciated

This is not an official post on behalf of MS, it's just from me. If @VisualStudio was GONE for you this morning, it's still on disk. The path should be like this (depending on your sku) C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\2022\Professional\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe

The version (2019, 2022, etc) and the license level (Community, Pro, etc) will affect that path but that's where to find it. It should still exist but the links are broken.

JavaScript is the bent screw driver with a broken handle that gives you slivers. But it's broken in just the right way so it can unscrew flat, phillips AND hex heads, pry the lid off any container, and be used as a hammer. You may hate it, but you gotta respect it.
