Congratulations to the EA and the teams behind this important update to the national flood and erosion maps and risk analysis. New data and improved modelling highlight just how much needs to be done to ensure we are resilient today and well adapted to the future climate.
One in four properties in England could be in areas at risk of river, sea or surface water flooding by mid-century.
We've updated our risk mapping tools so we have the latest data to allow us to adapt to the changing climate and build a resilient nation.

For the first time Office for Budget Responsibility @OBR_UK have reported on climate damages to @hmtreasury ! Debt will rise ~23% GDP for 2°C; and ~33% GDP for 3°C scenarios. Urgent adaptation essential to keep these costs down whilst delivering net zero!

The headlines have focused on saving £40M, but there are some other important points on wider issues such as reproducibility, avoiding bias, and accelerating innovation. An important read for academics and librarians @ncllibdev

Happy 20th Birthday OpenStreetMap!
"OpenStreetMap has grown exponentially or quadratically over the last twenty years depending on the metric you’re interested in . . . The story isn’t so much about the data and technology, and it never was. It’s the people. " --@stevec, reflecting on 20 years of OSM
