Blind Item #22 - The Show
A certain former actor who played a high IQ genius on a long-running procedural has had a secret AO3 account for years. His bookmarks consistent of DDDNE whump fics of the character that he played on the show. The actor reads these whenever he gets sad. Throughout his almost two decades on the show, the actor used to talk the writers into never giving his character a break. However, some of his suggestions for his character, who was a surprising fan-favorite, were so depressing that the showrunner flat out refused. After the first few years of his ideas being rejected, the actor took to AO3 to at least put his ideas for his character out into the world, even if they weren't canon. To be clear, both the fanfics he wrote and had bookmarked were just heartbreaking for his character, but none of these had anything beyond what's generally socially acceptable in a script or in the fanfiction community. Recently, the actor was asked to return for a second cameo in the reboot of the show. One of his terms of his return was that one of the fanfics he's written for his character be written into the season's narrative arc for his character. As soon as he sent the email, though, the studio's filters flagged it as a threat due to the graphic violence described (even though it was just a plot idea for the character he plays, and not an actual threat). The HR staff member forced to review the email was reportedly "deeply disturbed" and "concerned about where he even gets these ideas." She asked him if everything was ok at home, and pulled in the FBI consultant to sit in on the meeting (he was similarly disturbed but agreed there was no active threat). The actor was forced to go to a mandatory HR training after this, and the HR staff member and consultant both informally suggested that he see a professional. His character is so popular amongst fans, though, that the studio has considered accepting the terms of his return.

Everytime I watch a classic horror film I think. Why isnt this 8 hours long with a cliffhanger every hour?
Central premise of the tweet super underestimates the difference between america A and america B
Anyway there’s at least 8 japans
Jeeesus christ. DELETING FILES JUST DELETES THEIR REGISTRY ENTRY. THEY ARE NOT GONE UNTIL THEY ARE OVERWRITTEN.
🚨BREAKING NEWS : Your "deleted" photos aren't deleted.
Claude Code found years of them sitting in a hidden cache on my iPhone.
I plugged my iPhone into my MacBook to run a backup. I had Claude Code doing a security check at the same time. It flagged something I wasn't looking for. A directory called PhotoData/Thumbnails.
Thousands of files. Photos, videos, screenshots. A lot of them were things I had deleted.
Photos from a couple of years ago. Screenshots I took and deleted a few seconds later. Stuff I went into Recently Deleted and cleared. Some of it was still sitting there.
What I found in that cache:
- old screenshots of banking apps
- photos I deleted right after taking them
- random pictures I didn't want on my phone anymore
- a few things I specifically remember deleting more than once
When you delete a photo on iPhone, iOS removes it from your camera roll and Recently Deleted folder. But it keeps a compressed copy in a Spotlight search cache so your phone can still find things when you search. That cache doesn't get fully cleared.
I checked which apps had Files and Folders access. There were more than I expected, including apps I downloaded a long time ago and forgot about. Any of them could potentially read files from that cache.
I went through the list and removed access from most of them.
The prompt I used is below. It doesn't take long if you already have a backup.
How many apps on your phone have Files access right now?
This is genuinely just like amateur hour shit. Like what do you mean the audio leaked with an aircleaner? Either he just hit the video button or they totally bypassed it and plugged directly into the mixer and then didn’t say anything.
Really funny to see all these people who haven’t seen the movie come at it for a hacky ironic needle drop but if you’ve seen the movie you’d know that if anything it’s almost too sincere and sentimental.
Still think about this one sometimes. Less than a minute and by the end you know exactly who she is.
Younger movie fans love to say shit like “horror is becoming one of the most reliable performers at the box office, which is crazy”.
Just a really funny thing to say about something that has been true since my grandmother was a child. She’d have been 105 next year btw.
Counter-melody that starts about 30 seconds from the end of the clip has been my favorite stretch in popular music since I was like 13
Lol the most important thing they needed to do was hire an editor that didn’t suck ass but they couldn’t even do that. Maybe they all said no

Dense forests*
*apartment buildings in queens
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks.
By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time.
Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.
