Very grateful to see this project by @frogspitsimulat come to life and this question from @proofofgail - feels more prescient than ever and what is written in this article by Nick is almost foretold by explorations that Nakamura has done along with many other researchers
interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had
with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works

People forget that SF use to be incredible and influential in the arts. Pioneering curator Jermayne MacAgy gave Mark Rothko, Jackson Pollack and Clyfford Still some of their first serious career exhibitions

Mega congrats to ALL artists being shown in the wonderful exhibit at the @V_and_A ! 💕
This week:
The art world: here is a congregation of the best emerging voices and experiments in creativity and aesthetics. Everyone is questioning, probing and playing with emerging technology
Tech world: why can’t we figure out taste

The exhibit runs until May 2027, and highlights the work of Vera Molnár alongside several contemporary artists.
Pictured below, works by @REAS @williamapan @zachlieberman @Licia_He, alongside Vera’s.

Just spotting on social media but my work is up now at the V&A at a show about Vera Molnar. I teach her work every year and it’s the first lecture I give since it opens students minds to generative art. I’m beyond honored

Every artist who has ever sat behind a screen wondering if their pixels, code, or digital canvasses held the same weight as paint and stone—this is the answer.
This moment isn’t just a personal triumph for the late @vera_molnar_official ; it’s a seismic shift. Congrats @V_and_A
meet us at the intersection of art tech and souvlaki 💗

Celebrating @V_and_A Young Patrons and emerging forms of creativity today for London Frieze
Not me getting in a bar fight during Frieze arguing quantum is in fact emerging technology not advanced and in the arts we should stop referring to it as such just because most people don't understand it
