The AI labor replacement theory makes absolutely no sense to me
Here is the simple math
Let’s say an engineer making $300K/yr was generating $500K in P&L output for me.
Now I arm that engineer with $20K in input to make him 20% more productive
My total engineering cost goes to $320K/yr but the output is now $600K (+20%)
Because of AI, my ROI on hiring engineers just went up massively. As a CEO, that should make me want to hire more engineers, not less
What am I missing here? Genuinely curious about people’s thoughts

Proof that you can build great things from a small place.
I mean, take a look at Linux

Updating to React 19 to fix React2Shell took 4 hours 😢
So many dependency packages that don’t support React 19 yet; finding alternatives; fixing broken tests…
If it’s this painful for my tiny project, I’d imagine larger projects won’t ever fix this vulnerability 😢

I'm hearing the driver ran a red light at speed & mowed the woman & child down on a busy pedestrian crossing. It was school run time & near King's Heath Primary School. Multiple families doing the school run witnessed it & are understandably deeply traumatised.

ALT A leaflet from our group that reads: At 8.50 AM on the 15th June 2023, two people, including a primary school child, were hit by a motorist who failed to stop. Please join us this Sunday at 11am outside the New Life Baptist Church opposite ASDA on Kings Heath High Street. WE DEMAND BETTER Better behaviour from all of us behind the wheel. Better enforcement of standards on our streets. Better safety protections for our most vulnerable road users These changes will make our city a safer, happier and healthier place to be. BS4B. B is for Better

If we can't prevent children walking to school from being hit by a speeding driver in a pedestrian crossing, what the fuck are we doing? Birmingham is failing it's residents, failing it's kids. How is this acceptable as the status quo in Brum?

Tip for the new Python 3.10 Pattern Matching Feature:
You can use an if-statement as a guard.
If the guard is false, the match goes on to try the next case block.

My PhD focuses on people with type 1 diabetes who have built their own open-source #HealthTech. They've combined existing diabetes tech with new software to create a "do-it-yourself" artificial pancreas system. I am exploring their experiences and perspectives. #SciCommSeptember

Me: I wrote a web scanner used by 20 million people, the most referenced TLS guidelines on the internet, and Firefox's certificate viewer.
Interviewer: That's great, but in five minutes can you find the flaw in this non-functioning code stolen from a bad CTF a decade ago?

If you're using #vscode from the Snap, today I learned you can do `snap install codium` and you get the MIT-licensed version without the Microsoft telemetry.
Nice!

Bang on analysis. I think in part it’s the peer pyramid effect where people who are paid a lot are presumed to be right. Whereas they are capable of massive errors just like the rest of the planet. In this case I would expect RM and Fujitsu to being paying up large.

Decision based on Fujitsu/Post office claiming system was infallible and fraud was the only reason figures didn't balance, Fujitsu/Post Office knew that was a lie but didn't want to admit their system was riddled with bugs. Easier to accuse innocent victims.
