This thread is happening again in my neighbor’s yard. As nerve wracking as when it was taking place in our backyard. So many predators, bad weather, food shortages in winter, etc.
Here’s to the strength and resilience of mom and dad

Senator McConnell: “Securing a just and stable peace in Ukraine will require the moral clarity to assign blame where it belongs and a willingness to speak the only language Mr. Putin understands: strength.”

I fear Putin is playing for time, not peace.
News of fresh Ukraine peace talks in November is welcome. Every war eventually ends at a negotiating table. But we should judge Putin by what he does, not what he says.
And the evidence isn't encouraging.
Previous rounds of talks have delivered prisoner exchanges, but no meaningful progress towards a ceasefire.
In just the past week, Russia has reportedly launched 2,300 drones, 48 missiles and 1,600 guided bombs against Ukraine. Hardly the actions of a country preparing for peace.
Now Moscow wants to discuss security arrangements for after the war. Yet it still won't commit to stopping the war itself.
I suspect Putin's calculation is straightforward: keep the West talking, keep Ukraine fighting, and hope another winter weakens European resolve.
Diplomacy matters. But negotiations must not become a substitute for maintaining pressure on Russia.
I hope November proves me wrong.
Putin does not need peace talks to stop bombing Ukraine. He can stop the attacks whenever he chooses, simply by giving the order.

Say what???
We should have sympathy for the poor Russian kids serving in the invading army? Hell no!
They can desert. They can surrender. They have a choice! Ukrainian kids don’t!

Czech President: Trump And Putin’s Diesel Deal Derailed The Peace Process
Czech President Petr Pavel stated that a truce between Russia and Ukraine was “very close” — until White House head Donald Trump lifted sanctions on Russian diesel fuel.
The Czech president said this in an interview with the Axel Springer Global Reporters Network, which includes Politico.
Pavel noted that coordinated US and European sanctions on Russian oil, oligarchs, and other industries had put Russia “in a difficult position.”
However, the deal Trump announced earlier this month, under which Russia is to supply hundreds of thousands of tons of diesel fuel to the US, gave the Kremlin “room to catch its breath.”
“Now it’s going to be much harder. Russia is using this momentum to get out from under pressure, and it’s a kind of moral boost for it,” Pavel is convinced.
On Wednesday, the White House stated that Trump “successfully negotiated” this deal to provide the global market with “huge volumes of diesel fuel and lower prices.”

As a Dane to @realDonaldTrump:
You can fuck right off.
I haven't visited your shithole country since 2016 and I won't be back until you're dead and gone. Fucking fat POS.

Donald Trump and Republicans are the ones who should feel embarrassed.
But hey, you'd need a conscience.

We celebrate Lula's re-election not because Lula is a friend of Ukraine - he clearly isn't - but as a victory against the far right, against authoritarianism and against Trump.
Sending warm greetings to left-wing and labour movement forces in Brazil that have stood with Ukraine
