there are plenty of structural issues in our society making people miserable, but being a bad friend is not one of them. that IS a skill issue, and if you’re a good friend to people, your life probably will be filled with a lot more love and joy. you should try it sometime :)

The thing about debt and finances in the US is that it’s actually quite possible to get around them if you know what you’re doing, the issue is more that most people do not know what they’re doing and the system is deliberately kept opaque so it stays that way
