Today's idea is Palantir Technologies
Replying to @jackneel
the problem with this sound bite and your question “whAt dOes palAnTiR kNOw aBouT tHe peRsON wAtchInG tHiS podCasT?” is that Palantir is software company that sells *wait for it* software to governments and companies to make sense of the data they legally posses.
unlike your favorite social media companies, search engines, and other big tech darlings, Palantir doesn’t store or monetize customer/ personal data, and it’s not collecting information from different customers and creating its own super duper database to “rule them all” like the “Professor” is claiming. this has been debunked over and over again.
and sure, like any powerful technology, it can be abused. thats why the company has way more @PalantirPrivacy engineers than sales people - to prevent the technology from being abused and/ or used unlawfully.
Palantir makes money by selling software and prices it based on the OUTCOMES it will help those clients achieve within the rule of law.
hope that helps (I doubt it will. I don’t have much faith in you. I’m more focused on ppl looking in the comments who will read this and learn something new. cheers)

I would like to be more of a homebody but you can never trust a thought that occurs indoors. I'd rather be where my energy is freest (in nature / walking through the world)

We've been observing this effect internally at RevenueCat. The number of new apps launching has gone up by 5x in the last year, but the revenue from those cohorts is only roughly 2x larger than previous cohorts.
There is a classic supply glut happening. It's my belief that one of two things happen from here:
1. We are just waiting for these new use cases to diffuse, find their GTM channels, and they will actually incent more spending on the app store because the products are just better.
2. We are already at peak attention and spend on the app stores and the only thing going to cause demand are macro factors like GPD acceleration or population growth (especially in developing markets).
Muddying things further is that ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Muse, etc are devouring broad categories of apps that are easily substituted with a chat based super app experience. Utilities, trackers, basic information finding. I don't think the current form factor of these apps can consume everything, but it is putting pressure on a good chunk of the existing app economy.
Wild times.
