A short(ish) thread…

The fine music writer & pioneering Dylan fanzine editor John Bauldie died 30 [!!] years ago today. Together we watched, and felt embarrassed by, Dylan live on Live Aid in 1985. Two years later we co-edited the 1st collection of his fanzine in book form, All Across The Telegraph.
Night three brings the tour's first Bob Dylan guitar solo, the return of "Blind Willie McTell," and a dramatic (in a bad way) conclusion

Superb piece by @rayfp on Rolling Thunder '76 in the latest issue of @MOJOmagazine.
The off-stage antics sound as wild as the live performances.
Somehow no one mentions the most OBVIOUS answer
Could a musician ever win the Nobel Prize again after Bob Dylan’s win ten years ago? And if so, who? Music critics and analysts have some ideas: ‘It’s Don Henley.’ vulture.com/article/will-ano…

Love these near-solo piano performances. Glad they’re back.

Of course he immediately drops it the moment it finally got decent. No ERK tonight in Sweden.

…damn this Early Roman Kings from Oslo is actually pretty good…

Every time I hear a new cover of "Walls" I wonder, is this the greatest Tom Petty song ever?

First of many Bob Dylan tour dispatches this fall! Tom Wilkins reports in on a very surprising opening night in Oslo. With recordings of "Tangled Up in Blue" (with two new verses) and Bob's first-ever cover of Guy Clark's "Dublin Blues"

A great Bob Dylan Lights of Autumn show tonight in Oslo! Tangled In Blue with many new lines I found magical. Down in the Flood early on after Man in a long Black Coat. I Shall Be Released and everyone on their feet /.. You Ain't Going' Nowhere was fantastic ending.
Bob Dylan just completed the first show of his fall tour. Early reports are first Tangled Up in Blue in eight years! First Crash on the Levee in 31 years!!!
Plus his first ever covers of Randy Newman’s Louisiana and Guy Clark’s Dublin Blues.
Also yet another new mystery guitarist (alongside returning champ Joel Paterson)
