Russian commanders claim they've seized over 1,800 km² since September, but according to the Institute for the Study of War, Russia actually LOST a net 241 km² during that period.
Meanwhile, Ukraine claims Russia suffered a staggering 49,040 personnel casualties in October alone, including nearly 28,000 reportedly inflicted by Ukrainian drones in the first 25 days.
That's an extraordinary amount of blood spilled for virtually no net territorial progress.
ISW believes Moscow is inflating its battlefield successes to convince Washington that Russian victory is inevitable and pressure Ukraine into accepting its demands.

BIG: Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has privately made clear to senior Trump administration officials that the U.S. needs to "find an off-ramp" from the war with Iran, believing the military options available to escalate the conflict could backfire.
While Caine has assured Trump that the U.S. military "could absolutely wreck them" if ordered, he has also emphasized the limits of military force, concerns over dwindling U.S. munitions stockpiles, and the risks of a prolonged conflict.
As a result, officials have increasingly discussed finding an "off-ramp" that would allow the administration to de-escalate while still claiming progress.

Fact: the Jewish Agency not only failed to prioritize rescue during the Holocaust, but actively blocked rescue of unfavored classes of Jews, including ultra-Orthodox rabbis and "Hebrew Christians" (Jewish converts to Christianity).
Pic related is the 9 June 1944 report by Christopher Eastwood, a senior British Colonial Office official who worked on Palestine affairs. Eastwood notes that the Jewish Agency refused to approve visas to a group of (mostly ultra-orthodox) rabbis as well as "Hebrew Christians" (ethnically Jewish converts to Christianity), despite the fact that these groups were threatened with extermination. Because of this, the British considered attempting to get the Hebrew Christians Mauritius visas, given that their lives were on the line.
Jewish Agency obstructionism of rescue is confirmed by Solomon Schonfeld, a one of the architects of the scheme to rescue Orthodox rabbis to which Eastwood refers here; as well as the records of the Hebrew Christian organizations. It should also be noted that Hebrew Christians, as "racial Jews," faced extermination at the hands of the Nazis just as other Jews did.
