Brazil has just delivered something the world desperately needed: proof that the authoritarian wave is neither unstoppable nor irreversible. Bolsonarism was defeated, despite the political pressure coming from Trump's America. And the Amazon, once again, has a fighting chance.

80% of the majority in the Obergefell decision were appointed by Clinton and Obama and confirmed by a Democratic controlled Senate.
Crack open a fucking book on American history next time, jackass.

Not only did Brazil do a much better job cracking down on and punishing their Trump after their own version of Jan 6, they refused to mimic our subsequent fuck up of putting the right wing authoritarians back in power
Well done 👍 🎉
🚨 BREAKING: Lula is projected to WIN reelection as president of Brazil, defeating Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro and an ally of Donald Trump.
The projection comes just ONE DAY after Reuters exposed a Trump administration effort to help return the Bolsonaro family to power.
A major political upset in Brazil.

When LA Metro gave up on collecting and enforcing fares, Jeff Bezos didn't pay the bill. The military didn't pay. The LAPD didn't pay. Caltrans didn't pay.
Riders paid, by receiving worse transit service.
We pay either way. Might as well make transit better instead of worse.

Gay rights activists literally did this. They swallowed doma in exchange for FDA funding for aids research & medication, they ate DADT to not get fired from jobs. Obama famously was against gay marriage in 08, they didn’t pout, they remembered the bigger picture & got favorable scotus seats under both Dem admins

This is the most sickening thing I've seen in a while.
YouTuber Small Brained American visits an Afghan village, and their local doctor has LOCKED his female staff in a room from the outside. He is completely casual about holding them prisoners.
During the whole trip they've repeatedly told him to not film women, and pretend like they don't exist.
I don't think Westerners understand what true misogyny and gender apartheid looks like - let alone what happens if you mass import hundreds of thousands of fighting age men from this culture.
They quite literally do not consider their own women human at all.
Imagine how they feel about your daughters.

This commonsense bill passed the board of supervisors by a vote of 10 to 1, supported by progressives and moderates alike. Who was the lone dissenting vote? It was Connie Chan, of course, who wakes up every morning to fight against the production of new housing.
The SHADE Act has been passed into law today by Mayor Lurie!
Over the past 10 years, over 2000 units of housing have been blocked or delayed because NIMBYs said the housing would cast a "shadow".
So we're done letting red tape cast shade over our housing future. The SHADE Act will no longer allow shadows be used as a basis for environmental appeals. It will save between 3-9 months on some environmental reviews and up to $25,000 per project in reduced staff, consultant, and administrative costs.
We can protect our parks, respect our environment, and welcome more neighbors. We don’t have to choose. It’s time to let housing projects see the light of day.
Thank you to all those who helped turn this into law. My cosponsors Matt Dorsey, Danny Sauter, and Myrna Melgar. My legislative aide Raynell Cooper, all the incredible members of the Planning Department including Lisa Gibson, Lisa Gluckstein, Ryan Shum,Kei Zushi, Tania Sheyer, Debra Dwyer, members of the Mayors Office including Ned Segal and Adam Thongsavat, and our drafting attorney Andrea Ruiz-Esquide.

So... the couple executed in Saudi Arabia got caught because some pervert filmed them, tried to blackmail the women into sex with HIM, and released the footage leading to her and her lover's execution when she refused.
And I'm supposed to be LESS horrified after this revelation?
For those of you who are still being mislead by the fake news of the execution in Saudi.
Here is what really happened. Now judge it yourself.
Nazrul Islam and Sithi Akter, two Bangladeshi nationals employed as cleaning workers for the Bin Laden Group in Mecca, became romantically involved while commuting to work. Nazrul lived in a residential villa in Hayyal Iskan, while Sithi resided in Batha Kuraysh.
In May 2023, the two engaged in illicit relations in a secluded stairwell room between Gates 85 and 87 of Masjidul Haram. Nazrul had asked an Indian acquaintance to stand guard downstairs, but the friend secretly recorded the encounter on video.
Later, when the Indian national attempted to make advances toward Sithi and was rejected, he leaked the video online.
The video quickly went viral, prompting immediate intervention by Saudi authorities, who successfully apprehended all three individuals.
The Indian national received a 20-year prison sentence for recording and distributing the footage.
Nazrul Islam and Sithi Akter were detained immediately following their arrest in May 2023.
Nazrul had originally arrived in Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh between November 10 and 13, 2022. Following his arrest in May 2023, he remained incarcerated throughout a lengthy three-and-a-half to four-year judicial process leading up to October 2026.
Throughout this period, official protocol dictated that the Saudi government notify the employer (sponsor) rather than foreign government authorities.
Various rumors circulated online falsely claiming that the individuals were pilgrims performing Umrah or that the charges stemmed merely from public displays of affection.
While the defendants were unmarried, the severity of the legal outcome was not solely based on the act of zina (adultery). Because the offense took place within the sacred precincts of Masjidul Haram, the court determined that they had severely violated the sanctity and honor of Islam's holiest mosque.
Consequently, senior judges of the Supreme Court handed down the death penalty as an exemplary punishment aligned with Quranic principles and the Sunnah.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Saudi confirmed Oct 14 2026 execution of Nazrul Islam and Siti Akhtar for indecent act in Mecca mosque. Official statements lack post's details of video by Indian, gates 85-87 or May 2023. Consulate: Aug 2023 detention. Narrative is unverified viral claim.

it was an 8-1 vote to no longer let buildings get blocked because they cast a shadow.
the sole vote bravely defending blocking new homes that throw shade? you guessed it, conservative NIMBY Connie Chan.

The *OKB* (newly rich) are just too tacky; there’s absolutely no sign of "old money" here. Chloe Lim’s parents’ income in Indonesia comes entirely from environmental destruction. I hope the SEABlings community will organize a massive boycott of any products associated with Chloe Lim—her parents are the ones responsible for destroying nature and forests in Indonesia.
