BREAKING: A MASSIVE Department of Homeland Security data breach has exposed records of more than 41,000 employees and contractors, including undercover ICE agents, CBP personnel, cellphone numbers, facility locations, and internal groups connected to surveillance, wiretapping, Palantir, and Elon Musk’s xAI Grok, according to WIRED.
A published data leak is **not an attack timeline**.
The Guardian reports that a release exposed identifying records for more than 41,000 people working for or contracting with the Department of Homeland Security. TechCrunch reports that a hacker stole personnel data, but the supplied reports do not establish how the hacker entered, moved between systems or took the records out. That leaves the cause open. Preserve access records and check for unusually large data exports before attributing the leak to a specific failure.
Report the exposure now; name the attack path only when evidence supports it.
🚨🇦🇪 Telegram zero-day can enable code execution through malicious animated content
A vulnerability in Telegram’s rlottie animation library can allow attackers to execute arbitrary code within the application process.
Tracked as CVE-2026-111105, the flaw carries a CVSS score of 7.0 and was publicly disclosed by Trend Micro’s Zero Day Initiative after remaining unresolved at the client-code level.
⠀
The vulnerability is caused by improper validation of attacker-controlled animation data, resulting in a write before the beginning of an allocated memory buffer.
⠀
Despite reports describing the flaw as a zero-click sticker attack, ZDI’s final advisory says user interaction is required. The victim must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file for exploitation to occur.
⠀
Telegram told ZDI that server-side sticker validation mitigates the vulnerability. However, ZDI continued seeking a client-side fix and ultimately published the issue as a zero-day advisory on October 15.
⠀
No affected client versions, patched versions or confirmed in-the-wild attacks have been disclosed.
Users should keep Telegram updated and avoid opening untrusted animated files, sticker packs or external links until a client-side fix is confirmed.
‼️ Opening a malicious file can let an attacker **run code inside Telegram**.
The Zero Day Initiative’s October 15, 2026 advisory says attackers can execute code on affected Telegram installations after a target opens a malicious file or visits a malicious page. It locates the flaw in rlottie, the component that draws animations, and identifies numeric truncation: a value is cut to fit a smaller space, like an address clipped by a form field. The required user action matters: review where your application lets users open untrusted animations, rather than treating every received file as an immediate compromise.
Audit those opening paths, restrict untrusted files where possible, and alert on Telegram unexpectedly launching another process.
Early report: these facts come from first disclosures and are not confirmed yet. Expect them to change.

If you maintain FreeSWITCH, an incoming text may become **a command to run**.
FreeSWITCH routes internet calls, like a switchboard. A SIP MESSAGE is a text note sent through that phone system. SignalWire's advisories, as reported by pwnwatch, identify CVE-2026-116779: an accepted message can trigger server command execution. That makes a message the server receives a potential route into the server itself. Security Online and Meterpreter report that attackers are exploiting the flaw, but the supplied reports do not establish what they did after gaining access. Audit exposed FreeSWITCH instances and their versions, upgrade to 1.11.3 as advised by Security Online, restrict who can send SIP MESSAGE, and check received messages against unexpected command activity.
Treat accepted messages as an execution path until the patch and access controls are verified.

A published fix does not prove your GitLab instance is protected: **Alpine Linux reported an exploit attempt after the fix shipped**.
Alpine says an attacker tried to exploit CVE-2026-97229 on its GitLab instance on October 20 and 21, about a week after the fix was released. It says the attempt came close to succeeding, not that it succeeded. The CVE is a tracking number for a reported flaw; this one involves a regular expression, a rule for matching text, in GitLab’s build-and-test configuration. The timing shows why a release date cannot stand in for a check of the version actually running. Audit deployed versions and access logs, apply the fix, restrict who can submit build configurations, and alert on suspicious submissions or unexpected server processes.
Verify the running version before treating the flaw as closed.
