You know what wrecked me when I was newly Christian?
Genesis 22. For years as a Muslim, I was told the story was about Ishmael.
Then I actually read it. I think the bigger topic isn't Isaac or Ishmael.
It's this: Why would God ask Abraham to sacrifice his son in the first place? What kind of God does that?
The answer hit me like a freight train, because it shattered my Muslim worldview. God wasn't being cruel, He was painting a picture.
Abraham never goes through with sacrificaing Isaac. God stops him, then God provides a ram in his place. That action is not just a test or an isolated story: That's prophetic. It's a blueprint.
The blueprint goes: A father. A son. A sacrifice. A substitute.
You see where I am going with this.
Genesis 22 is actually the heartbeat of the Gospel. God was foreshadowing the day when He Himself would provide the sacrifice. Not for one man. Not only for one family.
But for the whole world. Of course, salvation wasn't earned by Abraham's performance. It came through God's provision.
You can recieve this substitute and gift. Here's what made me stop and think: The Quran retells the story of Genesis 22, but removes the name of the son. Why?
Because once you start following the thread through Genesis, the prophets, and the covenant promises, you eventually have to wrestle with the Lamb that comes later.
You have to wrestle with Jesus. The perfect sacrifice that every previous sacrifice pointed toward.
And that's when I realized: The story was never ultimately about Abraham. It was always about what God was going to do for us.
And there's nothing we can do to earn His approval! We can only receive the sacrifice He already provided.
No matter how you believe, this is very good read.
PART 3 of Setting the Record Straight on @KenPaxtonTX
“If Ken Paxton couldn’t honor his marriage vows, how can we trust him to honor his oath of office?”
Here’s what’s ironic…
Some of you aren’t even Christians, yet you’re suddenly invoking the sanctity of marriage as a moral absolute.
Okay… based on WHAT?
An objective moral law you’re prepared to defend consistently?
Or just “muh preferences” because you already don’t like the guy?
Those of us who are Christians recognize that adultery is sin.
I’m not defending it, excusing it, or pretending it doesn’t matter.
But let’s examine the logic that Paxton can’t be trusted to do his job for a second…
Saying a man can’t be trusted to honor his oath of office because he cheated on his wife is like saying a surgeon who commits adultery can’t be trusted to save your life on the operating table.
Think about how absurd that is.
Does breaking one commitment automatically prove someone will violate another?
Of course not.
And here’s something interesting…
Angela Paxton filed for divorce citing adultery. Yet she’s publicly encouraged Texans to support the Republican ticket, which includes Ken Paxton.
That doesn’t mean they’ve reconciled or that she’s excused his conduct.
But it DOES illustrate that personal and political judgments aren’t necessarily the same thing.
And despite Paxton’s personal failings, we still have an established record of what he’s actually accomplished in office.
His office secured BILLIONS in privacy settlements against Meta and Google, prosecuted human traffickers and child predators, and fought numerous legal battles on behalf of Texas.
That’s an actual record.
One that includes accomplishments AND controversies.
And no… his accomplishments don’t erase his failures…
But his failures don’t erase those accomplishments.
That’s why I’ve said from the beginning that we should evaluate the entire record…
Not reduce a man’s entire public service to one aspect of this personal life.
As Christians, we understand that ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
We’re imperfect people voting for imperfect people.
And here’s something else I’ve noticed…
People have a bad habit of judging others by their ACTIONS while judging themselves by their INTENTIONS.
When we screw up, there’s always an explanation…
But when someone else does, suddenly that failure defines their entire character.
A vote isn’t a valentine.
If you believe Paxton violated his constitutional oath, then examine his conduct in office and make that argument.
But don’t pretend his marital infidelity automatically proves he can’t fulfill his responsibilities as a public official.
That’s an assumption…
Not a conclusion established by evidence.
For those that are interested! Thx Nathan!

HISTORY LESSON ON YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY CARD:
Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn’t know this. It’s easy to check out, if you don’t believe it. Be sure and show it to your family and friends. They need a little history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are FACTS.
Up until the 1980's, Social Security cards expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes.
Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION" message was removed.
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. His promises are in black, with updates in brackets.
1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary [No longer voluntary],
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program [Now 7.65% on the first $90,000, and 15% on the first $90,000 if you’re self-employed],
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year [No longer tax deductible],
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent ‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program [Under Johnson the money was moved to the General Fund and spent], and
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income [Under Clinton & Gore up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed].
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month — and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to ‘put away’ — you may be interested in the following:
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent ‘Trust Fund’ and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the ‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US
AND MY FAVORITE:
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
A: That’s right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!
Now, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it! If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not, though. Some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn’t so — but it’s worth a try.

The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races.
Last month, my friend attended a training. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who each explained their beliefs.
She was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Muslim gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.
After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was her turn, she directed her question to the Muslim and asked:
'Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by unaliving an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?'
There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, " Nonbelievers"
She responded, 'So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to unalive everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?'
The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.'
He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.'
She then stated, 'Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine The Pope commanding all Catholics to unalive those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!'
The Muslim was speechless.
She continued, 'I also have a problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to unalive me! Let me ask you a question:
Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to unalive me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He wants you to be there with me?'
You could have heard a pin drop.
Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam, and exposing the truth about the Muslims' beliefs.
In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the US. to elect the President.
I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on! This is your chance to make a difference.

Thank you Josh! It is a privilege to vote! Why have we forgotten this as Americans? Now, more important than ever. You’re not “making a point” by not voting. You’re putting your future in hands of others. Wrong headed thinking! Vote as God leads you! Texas is counting on you!
An estimated ~8M Christians just in Texas are projected not to vote during midterms.
That election will be decided by a projected ~300k votes.
Pastors, consider encouraging your people to vote real quick in announcements next couple weeks.
A) They want you to
B) They are the "salt of the earth", a preservative slowing societal decay.

As a Constitutional Conservative and a Christian, I will be voting for @KenPaxtonTX. And no... I don't owe anybody an apology for it.
Does that mean I'm excusing his controversies? Absolutely not.
But like I just heard on a video from @howertonjosh, a vote isn't a valentine.
I'm not looking for a best friend, a pastor, or somebody who's never made a mistake.
I'm looking at RECORDS.
Both Paxton and Talarico have served in government.
We don't have to take their campaign promises at face value…
We can look at what they've actually done.
Banks don't approve loans based on good intentions. They look at credit history. Why should we approach elections any differently?
As a Christian, my convictions about the sanctity of unborn life, biblical truth, and the proper role of government aren't negotiable. And my disagreements with Talarico on those issues aren't minor.
Scripture calls us to be salt and light. Salt preserves and slows decay. That requires discernment, conviction, and ACTION...
Not sitting on our asses complaining that everything is corrupt and nothing matters.
I don't expect perfection from politicians. I expect accountability, and I'll hold the people I vote for to that same standard.
You can disagree with my decision. That's fine.
But don't confuse choosing between imperfect candidates with abandoning your principles.
There's a BIG difference between compromising your principles and actually applying them.

38-2 in non conference. How impressive. Surely this isn't just more SEC media propaganda! Let's see how that breaks down:
◽️12 P4 opponents
◽️18 G5 opponents
◽️10 FCS opponents
Wow, so only 10 of those wins were against P4 teams. Surely you're playing the tops of these conferences...?
unranked ACC #4
unranked ACC #6 (3 pt win)
unranked ACC #11
unranked ACC #14
unranked ACC #15
#25 Big 12 #5
unranked Big 12 #6 (1 pt win)
unranked Big 12 #16
#3 Big 10 #2 (1 pt win)
unranked Big 10 #7
So only one opponent that was ranked before today? Out of those 40 games you only won a single game against a team in the top 20 and by one single point??? Surely that can't be right.
And then you lost to the other top 10 team you played (3rd best in the Big 12 according to the polls) as well as the unranked Big 10 team who has only managed to win one conference game???
Surely this can't be true because 38-2 just sounds too damn impressive.

I've known @jamestalarico for nearly 20 years. When we were at @UTAustin in 2009, he ran the University Democrats and I ran the College Republicans. Although we disagreed, I once considered him a friend. But then he betrayed the entire student body for his own political gain.🧵
